Yemeni president says that Democracy has no place in the Arab world
I'm inclined to agree, it seems our efforts are now being wasted. These people don't want our help. Why should we continue to squander our resources.
These people ASKED for our help. we didn't go in until the Arab League asked for the UN to intervene. And the Rebels consider us Their saviours, asking us to do EVEN MORE.

i don't know where you got the idea that they don't want our help. its the Asian countries(Russia and China) who don't want us to help them

On the topic of the AK-103s seen in rebel hands, Ethiopia manufactures the AK-103, primarly a company named Gafat armenment engineering. Ethiopia is also one of the largest arms dealers in AFtrica, right behind the "Big Four" (the Africas largest weapons suppliers; China, Russia, America and the UK)
Venezuela also privatly manufactures AK-103s and has been known to export them to warzones all over the world

The more you know!
good info

Afghanastan, those people.....I swear to god they can be a real pain in the ass. You'll excuse me for being a bit biased but try to see it from my point of view.

No.
Your point of view is bias and I don't approve of bias. Though I do approve of this thread

even the Afghani want us there(their freaked out that the Canadians are leaving, like in a mad panic about it) it's IRAQ then ever wanted Western intervention. anyhow, while those are topics of unrest in the Arab world it's straying into flame war territory. lets drop it here.

I will again be away from the internet for a few hours, updating via phone for major events.

Please refer to AlJazeera's live blog on Libya or their Youtube Channel(see live feed at bottom) for interim information.

If you stumble accross major information not in the OP, I implore you to please post it in the forum and make others aware.

Please do not Bump unless it is accompianied by discussion or new information, as we do not want to have this thread locked.

Thank you.

Talk about it in another thread for starters.

The updates today have been amazing. I'm surprised that Syria's leader is offering to step down. I'm not inclined to believe him just yet.

Iraq, needs us badly, Afganastan not so much. We're there ultimately to capture or kill Taliban. Soldiers have attempted to convince village elders to stop associating themselves with the Taliban but they always default on the family obligations. What more can you do?

You fool. You complete and utter fool.
Iraq was a combination of American revenge and oil, thats what started the war, not American security issues. Afghanistan on the other hand is where many of the 9-11 bombers trained and is home to the taliban, a terrorist supporter and at the time of the invasion, one of the most brutal heirachys around.
Get your facts straight

That is not the topic to be discussing. At all.

The exact number of Warplanes the UAE is contributing is confirmed to be 12, which is by no means a small contribution. Al Jazeera didn't say what specifically the planes would be.

Most likely a small number of combat planes, with support planes and humanitarian aid cargo planes making up the rest

As much as I'd hope countries contribute military planes I would hope that they are contributing cargo planes to ship in supplies. God knows the people on the ground need medical equipment and food more than bombs. Well, maybe just as much ;)

EU Council President Herman von Rompuy after talks in Brussels: "From the beginning of the crisis, the European Union was at the forefront imposing tough sanctions. Today we decided that we are ready to adopt further sanctions, including measures to ensure that oil and gas revenues do not reach the Gaddafi
regime. Member states will ask the United Nations to do the same."

Money? Weapons? Take your pick.
NATO specific warplanes can't bomb anything unless they are directly engaged. They are to fire only on aircraft that breach the no-fly zone. Other forces under NATO command however, if marked by their country of origin, and not the NATO compass rose, can still enforce resolution 1973 by attacking Gaddafi forces who are attacking or threatening civilian populations.

This absolves Turkey of any responsibility if collateral damage is incurred, which was what they were worried about, as all their contributions are directly under the NATO flag.
