Also, NATO's name for the Operation is Operation Unified Protector. the Belgians are calling the Operation Odyssey Dawn and or Freedom Falcon

also Turkey is sending forces to help now, 5 naval vessels and six F-16's
Indeed, I've just started updating the number of countries in the coalition rather than the forces contributed to preserve the room in the OP.

Alot of countries have jumped in or added to their force. I know Canada just rolled 12 CF-35s off the assembly line, and sent 6 of them straight to Libya bringing our total fighter presence to a full squadron of 12 planes(6 CF-18s and 6 CF-35s)

well if thats the case i lost my bet with my uncle on who would use the F-35 first in combat, but i got no data to back that up. but you are Canadian and would have more knowledge of that so, i trust you judgment.
:) was announced today. We actually are in the middle of a election Campaign, and in one of our current PM's speeches he said they had just been sent this morning

then the news agencies here are slow, or don't care, which is odd because American F-35's are getting nailed because of the cost.

They are here too, which is why it came up in the election speech. He made the decision to spend $16 billion on them and buy 'in excess' of 65 of them. He's getting criticized for it pretty heavy, and he was defending them pretty hardcore, saying that they already have a place in the world, such as Libya and Northern Sovereignty(read patrolling the North West Passage which is in Canadian Territory)

Personally i support him on it, our CF-18s are supposed to be retired in 5-10 years. it's time to get some new fighters.

Also note that today was the first day that any of them actually rolled out to either Canada or the US, that were not test aircraft. US may have deployed them at the exact same time. I just know we sent 6 of our first 12

ok, there is an update to that election speech. they have not been deployed yet, they WILL be deployed as soon as the first 12 roll off the assembly line, sorry about that.

your comment made me look further into it :)

The rebels have made damn good progress in pushing loyalists into a corner, makes me wonder if these guys aren't Arab spec ops playing dumb.

Rebels in the early days were actually fighting off Loyalist Special Forces, i found that odd

wait, today was the first day none test F-35's were rolled out? well thats good news then.

indeed, could just be motivation and moral. moral can be the biggest force multiplier of all

it was the early days before the rebels first offensive fell apart, i think they got all the moral they need when the no-fly zone went up

it's no secret that the Canadian JTF-2 forces and the SAS were there and at least at one point were organizing the Rebels. might come down to that

I troubleshoot ops for a living so you can imagine how surprised I am.
Indeed. Though i work Telecom, I'm no stranger to the reality of combat. It surprises me that the rebels were able to beat back the spec ops

you know if Gaddafi was right about who the Libyan Rebels were, rather than who they actually are, they would be quite the cooperative army.

It would have al-Qaeda, CIA, Imperialists, Islamists, rats, monkeys, Taliban, Christain Crusaders, French Foreign Legion, SAS, Zionists, Illuminati and a couple of actual Lybians.

It's insane what he is spewing

separately he has called the rebels each of those things. not all at once but at one point or another he has called them each of those things

it'd be nice if the other side of the world mainly africa and the middle towelheads could not cause problems for the rest of the world.

Just because the Middle East and North Africa are just now coming around to a westernized political view, doesn't require racist or derogatory comments about them. The events over there right now are all about making less problems over there.

Remember just 200 years ago North America was having the same kind of issues and 100 years before that this was the story of Europe. Don't think they are any worse then the "western world"

Plus we are being supportive here. If you have any derogatory drivel to spew, go spew it somewhere else
