Fighting STILL rages on in Misurata. The rebels there have yet to see a day of rest since the uprising began

it's a good question. I don't know if armed civilians count as legit combatants or not...

To deal with armed civilians is one of those things that is in the gray zone for militarys and justice alike. For one, it depends on the weapons there carrying. AKs and M-16s and other lethal weapons like knives and swords automatically re-classifys them as a lethal threat, meaning if necessary lethal force can be authourized; how ever if they are simply flinging rocks and water bottles and using there protest signs as bats, I personally would resopond withtear gas, though over there with there extreme govermental archtypes, you never know what will happen; either way, civilian protests are going to get uglt over there and thers nothing we can do about it

Off topic I know, but I had to get that off my chest, so to speak.

USA UK and france all talking about arming the rebels. I personally think this is a very dangerous idea. We dont want another Iraq, and the rebels will probably need training with these weapons aswell.

there were private talks between the British, French, Americans and Canadians with the Libyan National Transition Council. It was however, separate from the conference

Before we start arming random rebels, two things (IMO) should happen. We need to see how they would reaffirm that their government set up would be an ally to the "Western" Nations, and we would need to train them to use the weapons. I was listening to MSNBC this morning and they don't want guns, they can get those. What they want is armor, such as helicopter support, jeeps, tanks, which take a great effort to train in use. I see that they want these to combat the late-Soviet armor that Gaddaffi's forces are armed with.

If your American, you need not worry. America is against arming the rebels, though Britain and France seem to be leaning in that direction
