The old and now illegitimate president in Cote L'Ivoire is now negotiating his surrender to the internationally recognized Democratically elected government. His army has surrendered directly to UN peacekeeping ground forces who were authorized to use force against the old regime in resolution 1975 two days ago.

oh believe me I know. the catch here is that they are still making a positive choice. hence the 'on the good side FOR A CHANGE'

Oh PLEASE! They don't give damn about the protestors. They want a foothold on the gulf to rival Saudi Arabia and challenge US power. If Bahrain's king is deposed with Iranian support then whatever "democracy" that is established is going to be dominated by Iran and probably be run by Sharia law like in it's own country.

You think the Soviet Union supported Castro's revolt for the good of the people !? Nope, they supported a dictatorial oppressive regime (granted as Castro grew older his country improved) because it aligned with their political goals and put a soviet ally in the US sphere of influence.

Iran is doing NOTHING good by supporting the protestors, if you don't see that then you're blind.

he now is saying that NATO inaction is the cause of the 1000 dead in Misurata in the last week.

Because the world waits on him hand and foot? If they want NATO to win the war for them then it require ground troops. They should be grateful the world is reacting as fast as it is, normally we stand by and do nothing. For Christ's sake he isn't entitled to the deaths of our soldiers to further his political goal.

some direct quotes from the Rebels military leader

"Misurata gentlemen is under the complete annihilation. It is extreme meaning of annihilation. There is no water, no electricty, no food, even children's milk this has been going on for 40 days, and daily bombing of buildings, hospitals and mosques. Heavy artillery is bombing civilian targets and when the Misurata people went to the wells that contain a lot of salt in them for drinking water, the Libyan regime closed down the black water or the sewage, and that's what led to the flooding of sewage into these wells.

"Who is talking about helping Misurata? Whether it is NATO, or even from the devil's alliance, this is Muslim people who are being annihilated, exterminated, and no population has been subjected to this since the early days.

"Who has been subjected to this treatment. These people were drinking water from wells that have been contaminated.

"the international media should defend the people of Misurata. NATO which is sometimes bombing some areas and at the same time leaving Misurata's people to die under these conditions."

"Unfortunately, and I sorry to say this, NATO has disappointed us. My staff have been in contact with the NATO envoys to direct them to targets that should protect civilians, but until now, NATO has not given us what we need...

Civilians are dying daily in Misurata because of lack of food or milk, even children are dying. Even by bombing. If NATo waits for another week, it will be a crime that NATO will have to carry. What is NATO doing? It is shelling some defined areas only."

you can make the right choice for the wrong reasons. I personally agree that they are doing it simply for the reason to spite Saudi Arabia. it doesn't change the fact they are still helping the Bahraini protesters. It's good news for Bahrain.

according to him, they are communicating locations of Gaddafi artillery, and evacuating civilians from those areas, so they are clear targets for NATO and NATO is ignoring the requests.

I think the Rebels are currently ok with the front line at Brega, and aren't too concerned about being pushed back from Ajdabiya any more. they are concerned with Misurata, where NATO is practically ignoring.

The end result from Iran's help will NOT benefit the protestors. They are just making the appearance of the right choice. It's true I can't predict the future but I'm of the opinion that if Iran sinks it's claws into the protestors cause, it will destroy the real change that the protestors seek.

I can understand that kind of frustration especially when their people's live are on the line. I think I misinterpreted the General's reasoning.

damn it, EVERYONE is stretched thin at this point

i understand Obama didn't want American boots on the ground, but we got about 400 Marines off Libya right now, might be a good idea to put sending them to Misrata on the table, at least NATO should think to scrape up some troops to go in there anyway

besides, if i recall, the United States IS NATO

NATO IS doing stuff, they are running interventions in Cote L'Ivoire, and Libya. They are running the operations in Afghanistan, and now they are looking at possibly intervening in Yemen.

NATO is getting stretched pretty thin.

on the bright side i think we are witnessing the true beginnings of the UN becoming a true world 'Government' with a military, judicial and legislative arm.

well, part of NATO. NATO is a coalition of 28 different UN countries.

to update a previous post.

NATO is currently running operations in:
Afghanistan
Kosovo
Libya
The Mediterranean Sea
The Horn of Africa
Iraq
The African Union
Cote D'Ivoire

and now potentially Yemen and Bahrain if UN resolutions are passed.

that would mean NATO would effectively be running as many as 10 different operations at once.

NATO countries include:
Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithunia, Luxembourg, Neherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, The UK, and The US.

as you can see most of these countries don't have much of an offensive military. so running 10 operations is spreading really thin.

Hell, running two operations spreads the US thin.
