An escaped prisoner reports that rebel soldiers captured by pro-Gaddafi forces are being tortured in an underground prison in Sirt.

Rebels are gonna want revenge. This could spiral out of control.

Lol more so than civil war?

Torture and execution seem worse than civil war. This could also hurt the rebel public image, as so far only the loyalist forces have commited war crimes but if the western media finds out that rebels torture loyalist troops for revenge...things could go down hill.

I know what you mean. I was just making a facetious remark that civil wars are always brutal and inhumane.

also a British Airstrike hit a oil field, didn't say specifically which side of Libya though

Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Kaim told the Reuters news agency that a British air strike hit the major Sarir oil field on Wednesday, killing three guards.
I'm guessing its on the bad guy side.

Former US Senator Curt Weldon is traveling to Tripoli to try to convince Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to impose a cease fire on his forces and step down.

Al Jazeera's Laurence Lee, reporting from Benghazi, said that Abdel-Hafidh Ghoga, the Vice-Chairman of the Libyan National Provisional Council, continues to insist that NATO do more.

"He has certainly strengthened his language, and he even went on to call NATO a "burden", which is an extraordinary thing to say under the current circumstances."

"There is obviously agreement here among the opposition that if more military gains are to be made, international forces must step up their operations."

Now this personally pisses me off. We've done everything they've asked. They want a no fly zone, we did that, they want direct air strikes, we did that too! They said that they didn't want NATO (at the time they said coalition) forces on the ground, honestly we are doing exactly what they want. If they want us to win the war for them they have to let us put boots on the ground. Even if we aren't doing everything how dare they call NATO a burden. We're putting our people's lives at risk for them.

The aim of NATO's involvement is to prevent civilian deaths, not fight for the rebels.

thanks. Also note that if any war is legal, it's this one. The UN resolutions made it legal for other countries to intervene. It also made Gaddafi an illegal combatant.

Yay the UN imposing its agenda on the world some more. Remember kids the UN is the wisest and most powerful entity in the world.

The rebels asked for UN/NATO intervention and they got it.

While it may not be the wisest entity in the world it has the most influence in the world as a governmental organization. They write international law and have the military backing of more than 40 countries.

That being said the rebels asked for our intervention. There is no imposition here

Gaddafi has expelled 26 journalists from Tripoli and at least 5 are missing. It also appears a NATO fighter Engaged and Destroyed a Rebel owned tank killing 5 rebel fighters. The tank was trying to out flank the Gaddafi forces and appeared to be firing into the town of Brega. With no contact with the Rebel forces on the ground the decision was made to destroy what appeared to be a Gaddafi tank.

Turkey has said that a split Libya would not be acceptable to either side. They said that it will end one of two ways, with a fair election run by the people, or with Gaddafi ruling a country with no people in it.

Despite his forces surrendering to the UN, the old leader of Cote D'Ivoire has locked himself and his personal guard in the presidential palace.

The UN has said he has one last chance to give himself up.

France is reportedly set to destroy the bunker.

Jeez, when did France suddenly get so violent? It's like they got tired of French military jokes and just started intervening everywhere.

Oh i forget to mention, some rebels where hit by coalition fighters while on the way to the front line.

The Rebels are pissed.
they were in a captured Gaddafi tank that appeared to be firing on the rebels. They didn't respond to hails from NATO. What was NATO supposed to do? wait and catch hell from the rebels for inaction or attack and try and help(as it looked like Gaddafi troops)
