We are all going to get banned aren't we?

I normally don't do alternative plots, in fact i don't; but after Reach's timeline i decided that i should.

Instead of pretty much making an entire new way of how reach fell, why didn't the game just take place the day that it fell?

The game could have a tutorial level based a day or so before the invasion with only innies. The next day (august 30th) the main fleet arrives and crushes all UNSC forces above reach (which took 2 hours), the game starts at this time during the siege of reach.

Basically the game starts during the siege and the 2 weeks that the UNSC forces groundside held off. This would have been a more grittier story, and the events that NOBLe team would have don't wouldn't have been breaking canon seeing it is based of the actions they did during the siege. None of the 1 month battle BS.

Yes, This is my Signature. Thanks for Clicking :D

You know, i heard this same thing before, I think that it was cut out of the game. Sgt. Johnson taught you the ropes around the city or something. Probably the fact that Innie's would have to be added to the firefight or Enemy list messed it up.

That sounds a little like Halo 2 to me, where did you see that at?

I think Bungie wanted to tell a standalone, original story, rather than directly following the fiction established in Eric Nylund's novel, The Fall of Reach.

It would've made more sense to simply create a new planet that nobody had heard of and start from them. Bungie could've done what they wanted in terms of the story without screwing with canon as old as Halo: Combat Evolved.

Ya I totally accidentally linked that random gamertag. I don't know what it is. But my real gamertag is curb st0mpd if you wanna check out my stats.

I think that Bungie wanted to show the whole fall of Reach, not just the final battle for the planet. That and they wanted to expand upon the characters so that the players can become attached to the characters.

There was no "final battle". The covenant attacked and everyone died, the end. That's supported by everything but this game.

oni hid the fact the covies were on reach, reach may have fell in one day, but the fight lasted way longer.

I know, it is quite strange they would opt for Reach, if they had plans to create a standalone title. They actually stated in an interview that they didn't want t develop Halo 4, because it wasn't interesting enough.

Finding the love of my life, and moving house really screwed up my gaming orientated lifestyle.

"ONI did it" I hate that saying! -_-

There is no real issue with Bungie (or anyone) changing the canon, so long as the changes made continue to make sense (obviously not in conjuction with what they changed). And who's to know that they can't come up with a (better) way of explaining why and how the changes were put into effect (how they now fit in).

Totally agreed, there wouldn't have been any lacklustre introduction of the Covenant or start of the battle. Right both makes up for a good start as well as make it harder for Bungie to screw up.

Established canon was broken.

Not broken, just damaged. You want broken canon? How 'bout if they decided Reach didn't fall? Wouldn't that be broken canon?

Extremely long time fan of Halo and Bungie. More-so Bungie than Halo, I love where you guys started and I love where you are today. Don't worry, 343i will take good care of Halo. I am also on Rooster Teeth at SuckItBleu77, or you may follow my Twitter by the same name, peace out guys, and remember to respect the Seven7th.

I think tampering with any canon is breaking it

It kind of depends on who you ask.

Reach is an entire planet worth of conflicts we never observed; was that not enough to work with?

What happened in Reach could have happened following the original timeline, with the game beggining on Augest 29th perhaps, and stretching into September. Certain things would have had to be removed, but much of it could have stayed, and others (Like Long Night of Solace) would have actually made more sense.

I see I am not alone in this logic.

Not enough time to get Cortana to the Autumn under that system.

... and do not delude yourself. Passing the Chief's 'sword and shield' to him was the only reason Bungie decided to have their final Halo game be a prequel.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

This is exactly what me and my brother were discussing a while back. It basically came down to an inner turmoil inside Bungie when they split apart with Microsoft.

We both believe that Reach was made this way to kill the series off and reduce Microsoft profits in the future. Its not like Bungie to not obey or even consider canon, and they have always made awesome multiplayers.

Though, that is my opinion.
