Subject: Poll: Tough Queston, but who wins?

Extremely long time fan of Halo and Bungie. More-so Bungie than Halo, I love where you guys started and I love where you are today. Don't worry, 343i will take good care of Halo. I am also on Rooster Teeth at SuckItBleu77, or you may follow my Twitter by the same name, peace out guys, and remember to respect the Seven7th.

After reading The Fall of Reach, seeing how powerful the SII's really are, I ask, If John and Kelly were with Blue Team and Kurt and Jorge with an AI assistant(team 1), would they be able to defeat Kat, Carter, Thom, Rosenda, Emile, Jun, Edward Buck, Avery Johnson, a squad of Marines, and Taylor Miles(team 2)?

John took out three ODSTs with his bare hands as a child so they are no problem, he can take them and the Marines with a gun, Jun is a terrible shot and can be taken out easily by Kelly, Emile's shotgun may prove deadly but Jorge has a turret, Emile stays away. AI informs a Spartan of a wounded Kat, eliminated. Johnson will be trouble but with a simple headshot anything is possible, Carter might take out Chief with the assistence of some others. Kurt can crush most of them alone, he trains SIIIs. It isn't just 4 Spartans, you forgot the rest of Blue Team, with all this being said, I choose Team 2 also.

If Chief is on Team 1, then Team 2 doesn't stand a chance.

Avery Johnson could beat every single other person mentioned in both Team 1 and 2. I vote Johnson.

One shot to the head is all it takes to take Johnson out of the battle.

A: That is a bad example. For two reasons. 1: John didn't know his strength, he never wanted to kill those ODSTs. 2: The ODSTS were arrogant and though he was a normal teen, and not augmented. Thus they weren't prepared for the strength displayed.

Jun is a terrible shot? What proof? Gameplay/AI scripting? That doesn't count for 'canon'.

Also, where did a "wounded Kat" come in?? You never mentioned her getting wounded, OP.

Team 2 would win by a mile. Spartan-III's are almost on par with Spartan-II's if no armour- or the same armour- is used. The Spartan-II's are just a little taller because of a thyroid implant, but Spartan-III's have a drug that increases aggression.

Team 2 could probably take out Team 1 with just the Spartan-III's, Buck, Dutch and Johnson.
The Marine squad would not be necessary.

P.S.
Why is everyone talking up the Chief and Kurt? One is an "average" Spartan, albeit brave; and the other is a good leader. Well, they're both good leaders, but still.
Neither of them are the fastest, strongest, smartest, or most accurate. They are in no way, shape, or form better than any other Spartan.

P.P.S
How is Carter the only Spartan-III capable of downing the "infallible" Chief? If anything, Jun would clock him from a kilometre away in one shot.

Team 2. With the possible exception of the marine squad every combatant here is highly trained with tons of experience.

Team 1 would have their hands full with just the S-III's. Johnson, the ODST's and the marines are about 10 extra sets of eyes and guns that tip the scales heavily in Team 2's favor.

  • 03.19.2011 1:52 AM PDT

Jun's got nothin' on Linda, also SII's training is better, if you disagree go read ghosts of Onyx, after each successive company of SIII's is lost, Kurt vows to improve training.

Noble team SIII's are from alpha and beta companies, so the increased aggression and resilience when wounded isn't a factor as that was not introduced until gamma company.

At the end of the day it comes down to Spartan vs Spartan, (no matter how bad ass Johnson is) SII's have far greater experience fighting against humans an covenant, and in general, they also have much greater batte cohesion. That's why I'm givin' 2 da II's!

Halo 3: Lone Wolves - 44
Team Slayer - 38
Team Doubles - 46
Team Snipers - 25
MLG - 20
Team SWAT - 28
Halo: Reach: Brigadier Grade 2 - 73% Armory Completion

Easily Team 1. Chief with 6 more Spartan IIs and 5 Spartan IIIs plus an AI against a possible Spartan I, 6 Spartan IIIs, two ODSTs and a group of marines? No contest.

I don't think anyone understands how solid of a team John, Kelly and Kurt are, even without Jorge.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

S III's would be dead before they know it. Marines wouldn't be much help either.

Team 2, easily.

Actually, the alpha-company training(As is Spartan III training in general) is referred to as better then Spartan II training.

I think the mere fact that they were trained by a Spartan-II alludes to them being just as good.

If the Spartan-II's were trained by a Chief Petty Officer, then imagine what could become of a solider trained by a Spartan-II.

Kurt vowing to improve training would be a "guilt" thing, because the main factor that let's the III's down is their honestly crappy SPI armour. The casualty rate on K7-49 would have been drastically improved- perhaps lowered to as little as 30%- if the Spartans had MJOLNIR instead of SPI.

Plus, they were kids, still. Most of the Spartan III's in Alpha Company died before the age of 14.

I put the laughter in manslaughter

spartan lll's are merely marines with super steroids on crack and more steroids and slightly better armor.

Spartan-III's are trained- and augmented- supersoldiers.

They are not simply Marines on steroids, crack, and more steroids.
By the same logic, Master Chief is a meth-addict in a suit of pillbottles.

Not even close. The S-IIIs are leagues above anything else the UNSC has other than the S-IIs. With experience and Mjolnir the average S-III would equal the average S-II.

Most Spartan III's got SPI armor which was vastly inferior to Mjolnir. Its only good points is SPI was cheaper and had built in active camo.

Don't waste time or time, will, waste you.

Johnsen survives through all the halo games(beside reach) and being infected by the flood. I think he might be the most BA character in the games and books, that said I think team 1 would be overun.

team 2

  • 03.19.2011 8:49 AM PDT

Well, to OP if 'team 1' includes more then the 4 named Spartans, you'll have to be specific on how many there is.
