Subject: Who won the Battle over High Charity?

Looking at Halo 2, you see countless ships fighting each other, those being Brute and Elite ships, but who won the space battle over High Charity, only to end up abandoning it due to the flood? The Brute fleet was 3 times bigger than the Elite's by Halo 3's time, so I'm assuming the Brutes won?

No, I'm not talking about ON High Charity, I'm talking about the Space Battle between the Brutes and Elites.

I think the elites won. I remember hearing about an elite blockade around delta halo to prevent flood from escaping and them glassing the surface of the ring. The Brutes probably left to reinforce other areas after Truth went to Earth.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

Im sure the elites won. The brutes hardly knew how to work the ships.

Then i think they went to exterminate the flood inside high charity and lost tons of their ships and troops.

Most likely the Elites won.

Yup, never even seen a Brute ship in action...

The Elites would've been foolish to do that. Once the Flood gains a foothold anywhere, its over, especially with the Gravemind controlling it.

I think in Halo 3 one of the Elite warriors tells the Arbiter they quarentined the station, but he never mentioned actually trying to defeat the Flood (which would've been impossible at that point in any method short of destroying the station). And they didn't want to destroy the station because Cortana was on it. If she wasn't on the station though, they would've eviscerated it.

The elites glassed installion 05 and they either defeated the brutes or those brutes retreated to Earth to help Truth.

The elites won. They then quarratine the area to prevent any flood ships from escaping. Obviously they aren't doing terribly well. When one heads to earth 5 ships follow, which is where they appear in halo 3.

I would have like it better if the entirety of the flood fleet had suddenly made a break for earth/the ark in order to defend their master, then the entire elite fleet followed, resulting in a massive flood/elite battle at earth and the ark.

But instead we get 1 flood ship and 5 elite ships.

Meh.

Earth would be lost if there was more then one Flood ship.

In the end, 9 elite ships, one flood ship and High Charity remained. The flood ship took off to Earth. The elite ships followed.

Not true, brute ship pairs were said to be highly effective, though the elites still won.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

The Elites won because after Truth took off in the Keyship, most ships followed him.

They mention a blockade, to prevent any infected ships from getting away from the halo or High charity.

I thought they mentioned the blockade was still in place around High Charity, which would mean the elites still have a fleet there. They simply said a single ship broke free of the blockade, and due to the size of the Covenant fleet around high charity it would be rather unlikely to blockade High Charity and Delta halo with only 9 ships <_<.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

The Elites. Most of the Brute fleet would have left to follow Truth to Earth.

  • 03.20.2011 12:04 PM PDT

Well, the Brutes left for Earth not long after Truth's shuip left. Would that be a retreat?

  • 03.20.2011 12:12 PM PDT

Please don't hype for games...
They'll just fall short of your expectations and you'll complain for months.

Considering how 1 elite ship can destroy 3 brute ships, elites won.

The Elites didn't have much of a coordination until after High Charity fell to the flood. Both sides sustained heavy casualties.

  • 03.20.2011 12:37 PM PDT

The Elites one by virtue of the Brutes retreating to Earth not long after Truth fled in the Dreadnought. I the Elites would have skunked the Brutes if they had stayed, I mean if they can take on a fleet that out numbers them three to one...Brutes wouldn't stand a chance no matter how many ships they had. After the Brutes left the Elites set up a quarantine around High Charity and Delta Halo.

right, quarentine , but they never actively tried to defeat the Flood.

Arbiter: And the Fleet? Has quarentine been broken?

Warrior: This single ship broke through our lines, so we gave haste.

Arbiter ...We have a fleet of hundreds

The Elites likely didn't want to send their ENTIRE fleet to chase one ship. You only need a few ships to stop a small, unorginized infection when you have air-superiority.
