I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

I've played Marathon and Durandal, I was never manly enough to complete them though.

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

Maybe some day, I'll be able to play Myth on XBLA.

Yes, I'm a girl, stop asking.

Republic Commando fans look here.

"This is the way the world ends, not with a bang or whimper, but with zombies breaking down the back door."

Only the Marathon and Halo series, haven't been able to get any of their other ones.

You can't beat Minotaur. It's a multiplayer-only game.

The only games they could easily put on Steam would be the Myth series, Oni, Halo: CE, and Halo 2. Since Bungie no longer owns the rights to any of these (Take 2 Interactive owns the first two, Microsoft the latter two) it's really out of their hands. I certainly hope they'll go on Steam or GOG or the like eventually, though.

The games older than the Myth series pose a serious problem. They were all written to play on ancient Apple computers from the early 90s, so the only way you can play them is through emulation or to actually use one of those computers. Marathon has been ported to all modern operating systems with the Aleph One project, which is licensed under the GPL and so free and easy to get. There's no reason for it to go on Steam. As for the even older games, there are three possibilities:

1) Rewrite the games entirely for modern systems

Not a great solution due to the dev-intensive nature of it. This is what Aleph One did.

2) Contribute to the Basilisk II project until it is capable of running without ROM images

Some of id's older games such as Doom are on Steam, and they run on DOSbox which is licensed under the GPL. If the Basilisk II project became sufficiently advanced that it no longer had a need for ROM images (currently the only legal gray area), all the old Bungie games could be released on Steam in a similar manner. However, as with Aleph One, they are/would be freely available so the only reason to pay for them would be the convenience of having them on your Steam account.

3) Have some sort of licensing agreement with Apple whereby their ROM images may be bundled with Basilisk II on Steam

This is by far the simplest in terms of how much development would be necessary and relative convenience for end users, but also the least likely to occur.

Edit: Oh yeah, and I've beaten all the Marathon games, Myth, Myth II, Oni, and all the Halo games. Currently working through Pathways into Darkness.

I think you meant to say that the only games they can't put on are Oni, Myth, and the Halo series.

Edit: O I see what you meant.

But then again, who knows, maybe T2I will try to put Oni on XBLA.

Probably not XBLA, as that requires additional porting. I'm sure if they stuck Myth and Oni on Steam loads of people would buy them, including me. CDs tend to get lost or scratched over the years, and digital downloads are more of an archival solution (provided you can re-download them if your HD dies).
