Subject: What's up with Halo 2 on the 360?

For real, it's kinda messed up. Sometimes when I'm playing there will be weird artifacting on the screen with portions that are discolored, and only on the 360. Sort of like silhouettes of geometry from the game that stick on the screen after I view it. I think it's some glitch with rendering things at a distance, but I'm not sure. My question is this: Is there any way to fix it, and does anyone else have this problem as well?

There's no fix to this common problem. All you can do is restart the level although sometimes it goes away when you hit a loadzone.

Halo 2 for Life!

very common... I suggest getting a xbox if it is bothering you as it probably will happen again and again.

I have both a 360 and xbox and I never ever play the 360 anymore. Microsoft just doesn't have good games for it's system. Not to mention my 360 broke down twice from overheating. Not to mention the 360 has load problems. Lets just say it's not only the games but the system as well falls short of what the xbox did. I don't care about improved graphics if it has 100 issues that the previous system never had.

I have the same problem when I play Halo 2. However, instead of starting a new thread, I have another question regarding the problem. Will it mess up my 360 if I continue to play with the geometry popping up?

I am a very pestamistic person. I see the glass half empty, even when it's full. Dont expect much from me.

Thats what happened to me on halo 2 right before my xbox 360 video card died

  • 04.28.2011 12:43 PM PDT

Yeah this happens to me a lot too.

Geometry pop in is a hardware limitation of the Xbox 1. H2V doesn't have that issue.

This is a Reach account that I created the day they announced his name in a bnet weekly update. Any stats regarding ODST or Halo 3 are irrelevant. Also, Halo CE master race. Halo 1 > other halo games > other games.

Account Status: Silver :(

It was created for the Xbox v1 not the 360. You should play it on an original Xbox v1. Borrow one or buy one, but either way it will be your loss. Loss in time that is to a life you will only live once.

You're wasting you're time here then.

Hanger one I just shredded with the SMGs until ammo was out and I just threw 'nades like a boss while BRing.

My experience playing Cairo Station on Legendary

Yah, this problem used to bother but, you you start to ignore it after awhile. I'm assuming it's because Halo 2 was run using different hardware, so the new hardware creates some bugs.

There is technically a fix.. if you are willing to modify an xbox 360 with the old style emulators, however then you cannot play your 360 games. I have done this with a third xbox once, but don't recommend it. You can get a normal xbox as a back up for much less cost and effort.

Halo 2 for Life!

Microsofts solutions to things usually have major flaws. I.e. their solution to old games on XBL was rittled with flaws in thought.

If you havn't played Halo 2 online than you are missing so much. Plus if you have played a good amount of Halo 2 online, I might have a better chance of listening to anything you say.

I think they call it the 360 ghost. It only happened to me when I played on Lockout, Backwash, and sometimes Gravemind. I don't know why it only happens on those maps but I guess on Backwash because of the 360's trouble with the fog.

I don't know what you are talking about but 360 has plenty of good games and yours only over heats because you don't take care of it well.

OP probably throws it in a tight space probably and expects it to work.

It's a fact that the 360 [original one, not sure about the new version] had overheating problems. MS knew that, that's why they put more holes all over the place. Instead of redesigning it completely like they should have. Oh well, can't change the past.

They made the CPUs and GPUS smaller. My falcon 360 was repaired in 09 and hasn't frozen yet.

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

I have the same problem on my 360, but not on my Xbox. I here it`s a very common problem on the 360.

The emulator has issues with everything. But it's better then on the PS3. If this was a PS2 game, we would be seeing "WHY DOESNT THIS PLAY ON MAH PSTRIPLE SLIMZ" threads.

Arrogant hyperbolic exclamations of woe? Seems like a normal day for Halo/Bungie.net.

It happens to me about 80% of the time I load up Metropolis, Outskirts, Delta Halo or High Charity. I don't want to set up the 1451 feet big ugly-ass original Xbox only to play Halo 2.

You forgot to mention the part that the 360 is more powerful, better, plays better games, Halo 2 sucks.
