Subject: This. Game. Is. Epic.

Merry Christmas.

Happy New Year.

AMAZING. EPIC. The campaign is the greatest since Combat Evolved. People really should have more respect for it. I loved it.

Stupid noob... but not forever!

ODST is the first Halo game i ever played.
Others Halo make me feel a player not worth enough, so i only watched others play.
I liked the human mood more than other Halo (don't count Halo wars).

I agree. I was hugely fond of the campaign.

The main issue I had for this game was that I didn't even feel like an ODST. I felt like a tired spartan. It was too easy and didn't require as much strategy as I hoped. Also the campaign took 3-4 hours. Ridiculously short for a $60 game.

The price tag would be Microsoft's doing.

I would have to agree with you on your point. My only real issue with the game was that you were just essentially a weaker Spartan. For all intents and purposes you still had shields. They just called it stamina instead of shields. You could also still rip turrets and carry them around even though we all know that's impossible.

Still that was my only gripe with my game. I still like it very much.

odst firefight had no online matchmaking. there was no online MP period. i would play it more if it had MP. like in reach or 3

ODST was built using halo 3's server. It was designed as a DLC. Why would they have MP?

I am a firm believer that when bungie makes you spawn with a pistol, kill someone with a rocket launcher.

thats the problem with this generations gaming community. everyone is all focused on multilayer. back in the day it was all campaign, and good campaigned for that matter. this was a nice old school great campaign game.

Agreed. Not my favorite Halo but still pretty awesome. ODST Firefight pwnz Reach Firefight by far.

Agreed, ODST is in my eyes the "Bang" Bungie went out with. Great campaign, wonderful pistol, good SMG (first time ever), the music blew my mind, the environments to beautiful :)

Best of all though was Firefight, all these different kind of enemies, massive amount of enemies, getting tougher and tougher. Always charging, always going for the kill. Lost platoon = pure love.
Firefight in Reach is casual fun, but boring. 30 mins max, unlimited life, no vehicles (almost), small maps and worst of all, AI is camping!
I hid behind a barrier when I ran out of shield, 10 jackals and 2 brutes just waited outside. In ODST, they would have charged and slaughtered me, a real Firefight. Hope 343i can bring it back like it should be!

and, btw, the Music was pure awesomeness!
ODST *pwns* Reach big time (despite no MP).

Those were the golden days of gaming IMO. Those were the days when people cared more about story and the experience of the campaign.

Now a days it's all about multiplayer, which is a mistake IMO. Companies think now a days that unless you focus on a multiplayer experience you won't sell anything. Games like the God of War series, Arkham Asylum, Mass Effect (both), and the Metroid Prime series are still relatively new and they are solid games that sold well. I still run through Star Fox 64 every once in a while and go through MGS once a year.

I don't hate multiplayer. I still love going online to play with my friends but I still think multiplayer should never be above the campaign in priority. If anyone wants to know why just play through Reach.

Think before you post

The campaign is way better than Reach. I thought the Reach campaign would be like this but much more epic, but it was the opposite. I cared so much more for the characters and story in ODST. The mood in the city was not like anything I have felt in any other game, apart from maybe Bioshock, but for slightly different reasons. It is a massively underrated game and I think the general negative response scared Bungie into re-thinking Reach, IMO for the worse.

I do. I love ODST. It's a great game. It really fits my playstyle and the story was really good.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

For those of you who know me for my guides, recently I began backtracking through the games for my video Legendary guides (released the one for Reach simultaneously with the Mythic guide). I've been working on ODST for the last few weeks, and let me just say that going back to the ODST campaign after playing Reach feels like coming home after a long vacation. I love this game and was one of the few who stood up for it when it was first released.
