I wuld like to point out that we can;t say that the elite on gamma station was the typical elite... For all we know, He could of been above average strength.

For all we know those other elites that were killed by spartans are below average

Becuase they were.

We only have 1 solid Elite Vs Spartan account and that was john vs a shipmaster (or captain) in which john was lucky to when.

The encounters in GoO count, but we don't know what ranks the elites were.

Lol, remember when John almost died Hand to Hand with an Elite on Gamma Station? One elite matches a Spartan II in the books if you ask me.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Spartan's are usually better trained and have alot more experience than most Elite's.

Spartan's in actual canon are equal to Elite Ultra's. Spec Ops probably are even better than Spartan's.

From what I understand Elite Majors are equals to Spartan II commandos, so I think Ultra's and above would have less difficulty fighting a Spartan hand to hand.

you can see that it took more a few high rank elites to defeat noble 6 when he was weaponless, helmetless and badly hurt
probably jorge would beat something like 10 elites in a weaponless fight

Um, when Six was on the ground the only reason it 'took' more then one was because Six smacked them away before they could to a finishing blow.

those "smacks" took out the shields of the elites, witch mean one more smack would kill
btw, they finished him with sword but six was weaponless

That would have been because according to the original versions of TFoR the Elites had not been encountered in the war yet, and that particular information is now horribly outdated, retconned, and useless as evidence for anything, imo.

And frankly the books do a horrible job with the Covenant anyway.

The fight he had with the shipmaster in First Strike still stands though.

Yes, but that's a Shipmaster though, they're kinda their own whole class of Elites, and the only real difficulty with that fight was the energy sword, at least that's how I read it.

I think the Spartans are a little better than the Elites, but not all that much better. It's like with the ODSTs, they're better than all the other average marines in the UNSC, but not by much, that's kinda how I see the comparison between Spartans and Elites.

Thats Becuase Physically Spartan IIs Are Directly Equal to an elite Major. Anything lower is easy and anything above is a challange.

First, a spartan 3 in SPI armor is actually equally strong as a fully armored elite. So if a spartan 2 is in MJOLNIR, an elite doesnt stand a chance.

Wow. You're wrong in your very first point. SPI armor lacks the reactive crystalline layer found in Mk.V and VI, the armor that makes a Spartan equal to an Elite. Read pages 14, 16, and 113 of Ghosts of Onyx.

What was it that said that IIs are equal to a Major? Did any Halo source say that, or is it just the common concensus of the fans?

I belive it was in the fall of reach, but it is in a trusty source. Seeing how it is going to be about 10 years old i won't remember right off the bat

Ah, ok, as long as it's trustworthy I won't rule it out :P
Though I still think Spartans are for the most part are slightly better than all Elites. Though it does indeed make sense for higher ranked Elites, and thus the ones with the most combat experience, to give Spartans a harder fight than a Minor or Major.

I don't understand how the events in the Halo Trilogy could have happened if Master Chief was physically weaker (in his armor), had technologically inferior weapons and slower reflexes than even the most basic elite. If MC really was as weak as the books make him out to be, he would have died in the first encounter with elites on Alpha Halo.

My point is that Master Chief must be able to defeat the least powerful and inexperienced in hand to hand combat if he was to surrvive the events of Halo 1, 2 and 3. My belief is that he is a closer equal to an Elite Major, and at a disadvantage to higher ranking Elites.

Even with genetic alterations, and anpowered suit of MJOLNIR MK V, the elites were still an equal match with Spartans.

They out-think their opponents, thats what they were trained to do their entire lives.

Compare the Spartan II's kill/death ratio with Elites.

Yeah. Spartan's are equal to Ultra's, not Majors. I dont know who said that to begin with...
