In an effort to prepare for H2, I am investing in a hub/switch for both my home PC nad Xbox setup as well as for H2 Live games and LANS. I want to be able to use one with enough ports to have the full 16 player / 16 xbox capability still ues it for live at home and xbc. Does anyone have any reccomendations as to a good Hub/switch w/ 8 or 16 portsthat works for all these conditions?

P.S. Can hubs and switches be stacked in order to allow say 12 Xboxes to be connected at the same time for H1 and be running 4 gmes at the same time (see diagram). Will this kind of a setupwork fro any box to connect to another? Will box one be able to connect to the game box 9 is hosting, et.al.?one hubs Wan connection goes ot the next levels general port and so on and so on.

1,2,3,4 on Hub 1
5,6,7,8 on Hub 2
9,10,11,12 on Hub 3
and HUBS 1,2,3 on a fourth Hub
or is everything just localized to the first router level ie. 1,2,3 & 4 on Hub 1 only

Any and all help in this matter would be apprciated.

No you can only have 4 xboxes hooked up to the same game session at once. 8v8 is the maximum people.

When I finally shelled out for broadband internet, I also went ahead and bought a nice Linksys Wireless G router. I highly recommend it. It supports MANY wireless users (much more than you'll ever need at a private home), and comes with like 5 ports on the back for the old-school wired connections. If Halo 2 is anything like Halo 1, and only allows four actual xboxs to be linked at once, then the wired ports are enough. I went ahead and bought a wireless adapter for my Xbox, and if your friends have wireless adapters for their xboxs, they can be configured to work on your wireless network. That way if Halo 2 allows for 16 xboxs to be linked at once, you can do it (provided you have 16 friends with 16 xboxs and 16 compatable wireless adapters and 16 Televisions). I believe Microsoft makes a wireless adapter for Xbox that supports wireless G (faster wireless), and its retail around $120. ...ouch, I know, but wait for it to go on sale. I waited until Best Buy had a sale and bought all my networking equipment at once for like half the total price of their normal retail.

I highly recommend the Linksys brand. I believe Microsoft's Xbox website has a listing of officially supported brands/models of routers/switches. With most quality routers/switches you can definately string several together: Example: plugging a 5 port switch into a 5 port router would allow you 8 network 'hook-ups' (10 ports - minus the two used for connecting the switches). Hope this makes sense! Feel free to ask me if you want some specific model #'s of my gear.
