I'm so happy that they shut down Halo 2 online along with all other originals to improve XBL! I mean, look at all the improvements they made so far in 11 months!

Oh wait...

Halo 2 for Life!

They improved...

They made room for advancement by allowing them to forget about backward compatibility issues. It stream lined their operation a bit at the cost of many Halo 2 fans losing faith in their products.

It was a compromise they were willing to make. It was a move that Halo 2 fans will not forgive easily unless Halo 2 comes back soon! To Xbox Live.

I agree fully, so what if they have improved with what? small updates... But it really hurt a respectful community. What they did was not fair to the people!

Wasn't there a statistic that when H2 went of it was like 1 in every 4 Live accounts were shut down or something like that?

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

I still haven't seen the improvements, you still face the usual problems when playing online. Kinect is eh and ever since original live support was eliminated for the old games, I haven't seen the improvement in online play or faster service. We can no longer play the games we once used to or even download/use dlc's that we once paid for anymore.

We got screwed and everything still remains the same.

I agree completely. I haven't seen there been any changes after making the switch. Also, there wasn't that much updated support for backwards compatibility anyways....They weren't losing much time or effort on it....

A remake perhaps. Who knows, maybe this years Halo CE remake will feature a Halo 2 multiplayer?

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Do you want to now why they shut it down? Because 99% of Xbox 1 games were dead. Since they were dead, they could shut them down with the only backlash being kids who's parents wouldn't get them a 360.

BattleFront II (#2) had less people then the PC and PS2 versions, BattleFront I, lower on the charts, was almost dead, and Burnout 3 (#10), was completely dead.

As for Halo 2, playlists were completely dead, and games were taking a while to find.

Keep living in your bubble, Halo 2 won't come back, no matter how hard you fap.

No i agree fully that Xbox origanals were dead, but Halo 2 was not. in the last year of its life i played more Halo 2 than any other game on LIVE and it really wasn't that hard to find a game, no harder than it is to find a game on H3 now...

Thing is, the population was in decline, and it wasn't being worth it for MS to leave a crapload of servers up for one game. There's a reason H2V hasn't been shut down yet, it uses the 360 servers.

If that statistic is out there, it's a lie. The population was low in Halo 2 when they cancelled it. If 25% of all Xbox LIVE users were to be that upset by Halo 2 being discontinued on XBL, wouldn't they have been playing the game?

There would be a lot bigger backlash over Halo 2 if that had happened. Halo 2's population was only 400-500 at once, or lower, while the #2 game on Original Live was 10-15 people at once.

i just hope they bring back the old halo 2 multiplsyer experience...and add in some armour customiszation and updated graphics in the Halo CE remake this year (if the growing rumours are true)

  • 03.22.2011 9:41 AM PDT

I just wish we would get the online back, such an awesome online experience.

but, in my personal opinion though, what they should do is this

Halo 2 is currently the only game to not be on games on demand, and has no place on xbl at all right now.

We all know that microsoft wants a lot of money right? and they have all of the control over the halo series as well.

I propose they do this, make the halo 2 Multiplayer experience as an Arcade game, by doing this, it wont have campaign (yes i know a lot of people still like the campaign but itd make it a lot harder to be an arcade game, and if you need it that bad, get the vista or find an xbox original version)

now that would significantly reduce the size of the download and give it just the multiplayer part, which is what the majority of people want. Now the part i would hope they do is just give us all the maps at one time (unless they decide to be super greedy and make the maps as dlc and make us pay for them)

since it would be an arcade game and not an xbox original, it wouldnt have to go on those servers, but a whole new set of servers.
