I just got done playing american mcgee's 'Alice' and i have to say that the graphics rock hardcore (which was surprising conisdering it was made for windows 95! )
And then i started wondering,if they could make great graphics for low video card specs why couldn't halo pc have been made like this instead of going to the boundaries of what advanced computers could do?

Alice looks good, but there are a whole bunch of clever rendering techniques in Halo PC that are impossible on low-end PCs.

Absolutely. I can't say much about high end computers though... I have an Alienware but everyone says I got ripped off and could've gotten a cheaper one just as good... Grrr you Alienware!

just look at marathon and how it looks. yes it is getting dated but because of the engine setup, they could do some cool lighting "effects". its in quotes because most lights are pre-rendered or is non-dynamic *ie no shadows*. but how bungie did shadows was just awsome.

*then again, dl aleph one. it has natural texture blur to get rid of the pixalation and has some better effects than the original engine. also it works for windows!*
