A single Spartan would die at the hands of the Modern US Military.

All you need is one jet to drop a precision smart bomb.

If the Spartan uses a bubble shield, drop another precision smart bomb.

If the Spartan survives, drop another precision smart bomb.

Rinse and repeat.

United States Military - 1.
Spartan - 0

I disagree with this. Yes you have smart bombs and tanks and whatever. That didn't stop red team from facing a whole battalion of covenant hijacking the wriaths and proceeding to turn the tide of the battle against the covenant. They were doing extreamly well up until the cruisers showed up. If 11 spartans can make a stand against a gaint force of covenant who are more advanced than our military today than I don't think 1 spartan would have to much trouble with a company of 100 men with a little bit of armor support.

No...you don't get it.

Don't even send in ground troops. Just shoot the Spartan from the upper stratosphere with a smart bomb launched from a Jet or from another continent.

This isn't impossible.

kill the Spartan from near orbit, or from another continent

Here's how I see it- spartans are NOT stupid. He won't just willingly go out into open ground knowing that he's numerically at a disadvantage. Sure MJOLNIR armor is made of an incredibly tough titanium alloy and is impenetrable to small caliber rounds, but under heavy combined fire, he's sure to go down, especially considering the fact that the enemy will probably have vehicular and air assets. It wouldn't even be worth sending in an elite spec ops squad comprised of the best soldiers anywhere on the planet today. Hell even an average size platoon would go down pretty damn quickly.

No, the spartan wouldn't even make himself appear as a blink on the radar unless he wanted himself to be caught and even then it'll only be to lure the enemy into a trap forcing them to fight on his choice of battlegrounds where any enemy would simply get their asses handed to them. Numbers count for nothing and at this point modern military will essentially be fighting against a ghost. No spartan at a disadvantage would willingly just go out into the open and try to mow down wave after wave of enemy, on their choice of battle terrain.

And even if an air strike is sent in, he'll probably have a back up plan or escape route ready for this sort of event.

You have to realize this spartan is made in the hundred years of the future the weapons there are all better in every single way imaginable. they might not look it but they are. the shields to they can probably take two or maybe three tank shots because of how advanced they are. and you still have to remeber hundreds of years into the future. its like the military in the civil war

It's not really like that. Weapons in Halo are as powerful as modern day weapons. Unless the concept of millimeter has changed to bigger. They still use 5.56mm, 7.56mm and .50 cal rounds same as modernday weapons use. Only thing that could be made better is the speed of the bullets. Mjolnir shields can't take even one shot from a tank.

Single Spartan II can't stand a chance against entire military force. One GPS tracking missile and the Spartan is dead. If they tried to take out the Spartan with infantry it would be a whole different story but otherwise military would win.

That's how it probably would be. Spartans aren't stupid. Air strike would be the most powerful weapon they could use against the Spartan. No military would ever launch a nuke against one man even if that man had killed thousands of their soldiers.

CoD is a good game, even if the Halo series are better in some aspects. Anyone who insults either is just bad in that game. Grow up.

This guy's got the right idea. People seems to always forget that Spartan-IIs were trained not only as combatants, but tacticians as well. They can and does adapt on the fly, and because of their natural superiority in genetics as well as their augmentations (specifically the neural enhancement), they are superior in terms of intelligence than most of the UNSC and in this case, the modern world. So they wouldn't just go and get themselves killed...they'd be a ghost, never being found.

couldn't one brave person just run a Spartan over with a vehicle?

It's possible, as seen in the halo games

Never say you're bored. Never say you're satisfied with the world. Never stop doubting or questioning things. Always wonder. Always think. But always take time to drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all the time.

I'm serious....What if some Brave Soul just got into his Nissian Stanza....and just ran the Spartan over

His Stanza would be wrecked....for sure

But Car Repairs are cheaper then firing nukes and missles

Because that super-augmented soldier-whose normal, non-stress reaction time is 1/10 of the average human-is just going to stand there and let you hit him with a car.

Sure you can hit him with a car...if he was clamped down with titanium bars. Otherwise, he would do something that-even in the unlikely situation that he does gets hit-that would reduce if not negate the impact.

ok, here's a better question

Why would the Spartan fight the military.

That's a good question. I'll explain with a question of my own: Why is that Spartan-II even in modern time? Logically it's impossible; thus the point of the thread is just discussing what could happen IF the Spartan-II was going against the modern military.

lol, ok,

Right, so say it takes 2 shots from Halo's sniper rifles to kill a spartan

1 to take down the shileds, 1 for the kill

Said Sniper rifle's bullet is 14.5 x 114mm

The BArret 50 cal of today can fire a 12.7x99mm round

Couldn't the military set up a "sekret" sniper team somewhere....all with barret 50 cals, to shoot said Spartan on sight?

You act like the military are the only ones with tactics. Spartans were trained from a young age in all aspects of war. (Including tactics).

they would proberly hide and use hit and run tactics.

there are two possible outcome to this
1)We evneutally corner the spartan and kill him (Not going to happen)
2)We ignore him... let him attack the odd milatary convy to stay happy/

Spartans are professional, but not invincible

I doubt they can smell Snipers from a mile away.

Btw....If outnumbered....a Spartan COULD be overwhelmed by his subordinates

Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, etc

when a group of marines attacked you, they were damn effective.

The shields would collapse from the bullets and he'd die.

Custom Games>Game Options>Spartan Traits>Shields and Health>Damage Resistance set to 'Invincible'. Sorry if I got that wrong, but it should solve your problem!
This. The MJOLNIR armour without shields is almost completely impervious to bullets.

Hell, Blue Team was restrained and shot at by .30mm turrets and came out alive. It seems like the only things that could take down a Spartan in modern times are explosives. And lots of 'em.

No...they can't smell snipers...but they would always setup the circumstances in which even if there WERE snipers, they wouldn't be in danger. There are a million ways to go about doing this, not gonna elaborate.

Btw...gameplay examples don't work. In the games you don't get to grab enemies by the neck and throw them at another, nor execute any martial arts, but a Spartan has definitely been trained in them.

Spartans are able to essentially see when they're being lured into a trap- they're trained to be tacticians for a reason. If they see that they're in a potential area to be in a trap, they wouldn't go there. And the games don't reflect well on the spartans' abilities either. Plus, it takes a while to set up a solid sniper shot, even if one hit the spartan, at the most his shields would drop but then he'd immediately rush to cover barely flinching.
