Weren't the Flood from the Magellanic Clouds though? Why would the Forerunners run into where the Flood came from if they left the galaxy?

@grey
Why would leaving the galaxy be beyond Forerunner technology? It'd just be like any other trip for them, except they'd be leaving the Milky Way instead of traveling within it. It shouldn't take any special technology to leave the galaxy, all you need is a ship that's space worthy and something similar to cryo freezing to keep you alive until you settle.

It was never stated where the flood came from other than the IRIS nebula, which i should look up again. the humans guessed they came from the clouds but we can't be sure seeing how the prisoner knows of them.

Moving an entire empire from one galaxy to another takes alot of preperation much like moving to a whole other country.
You need a population, ships to keep the population on and for defense. You then need some way to feed all the people and ways to fix damages to a ship when they occur. You also need some means of finding planet that you can live on when you get to that other galaxy. There are just so many variables to consider, just look at battlestar galactica, stargate atlantis, mass effects quarins, etc.

Ah ok, so we don't really know where the Flood came from then. Well the Precursor could communicate with the outside world, that might be how he knew about the Flood, and from what little was said about the Domain, it sounded like the Precursors might have access to it as well, they might even be those weird disembodied voices that were talking to Born in his sleep, so it's entirely possible the Prisoner knew all that was going on in the outside world through the Domain.

Hmm, I suppose, but you also have to remember that there wouldn't be all that many Forerunners left alive by that point. A great many of them were killed when Mendicant fired the Array into their capitol, and then they were set on by the Flood. All of what you said is true, but I don't think the whole Forerunner empire would be moving, it would probably be the minimal survivors they had left.

when ever the new halo comes out i hope that its done by bungie not 343 industry's, granted they did a good job on the defiant map pack but it just wont be the same if they do it which is what ive heard

True, but also I think there are some Bungie employees who went to 343 industries, hopefully they might help, but I'm still uncertain, I'm still going to miss bungie though

He knew about the flood from the times the humans were talking to him, other than that he doesn't know what is going on around him. Just like people in cryo aren't aware of what is going on.

If that was the case the forerunners wouldn't move to another galaxy anyway if they didn't have a good enough population to keep thier race alive. And despite how bad the flood was they are no where as effictive or systematic as the reapers are at Exterminating races. If the forerunner had 3 million worlds at max pop that were known to the forerunner population, we also have to take account that there are undocumented forerunner worlds like Seaward (G617).

That being said i am sure the flood didn't take EVERY forerunner planet, just like the covenant bypassed human colonies.
