Yes, it's me again. With yet even more questions about this site. I thank you for your patience.

* When moving the mouse over links in some people's signatures, it says 'tinyurl', instead of the long address (http://bungie.net/etc.) of where the said group is located. Is there some way to use this to circumvent the character maximum and put more links in your signature, or do you have no idea what I'm talking about?

* A while ago, dmbfan09 posted a link which went to a thread, but went to about halfway down the page, for the purpose of showing Recon's post without having to search the page for it. My question is, how do you do this? Or once again, do you not know what I'm talking about?

www.tinyurl.com

Very self-explanatory. It turns your long URL's into short URL's. That way you can fit more items into your signature.

The second part. It links to a direct post. Somewhat complicated to do. I had some instructions given to me on how to do them by dmbfan, but it's saved on my other comp. I'm sure someone else will be able to help you.

dude, you pulled a jesus!

http://tinyurl.com

you go to that site and enter the link to the page you want to shorten. It compresses it into a link about 25 characters long.

Don't know about the thread thing works.

Your assumption is correct prospartan7. It is possible to fit more links into your sig by using tiny urls. That is exactly the reason I use them when linking to bungie.net groups in my sig. It won't circumvent the maximum character limit for your sig, but it will allow you to cram more links into your sig.

Sorry, I cannot help you with information on linking directly to a specific post of a thread, although I myself would like to know exactly how it is done.

Edit: Budweiser Man 1 beat me to the lazy link.

To get the link for a specific post, you need that post's ID number. The easiest way to get this is to click on "Reply". For example, if I wanted to link to Sard's post above this one, I would click on "Reply" (or, if you're a moderator, "Edit" works fine too. :P). I get the URL http://www.bungie.net/Forums/createpost.aspx?postID=5822815&a mp;a ct=reply

The ID number of Sard's post is 5822815. The format for post URLs on b.net is pretty simple: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=xxxx

You simply replace "xxxx" with the ID number of the post you're linking to. So the link to Sard's post is http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=5822815.

What I think he meant was how to link to a page, and it pops up on a certain spot - not at the top where a person will have to scroll all the way down to find out what's being talked about.

That's what he's talking about. Individual replies are the same as topics, I think. It's just that they're further down the page.

OH ok I get it now. I had to read that like 10 times to get it.. no offence at the way you write things Reiginko, it happens to me alot :p

Thanks for pointing that out TGP. And I never thought about using the link from a reply page to point out a specific post. I'll start doing it when needed ^_^

That's good knowledge to have. Thanks for all the help.
