330 Spartans, claimed to be the best Spartans ever by Kurt, what do you think happened to them? We do know that...

Team Gladius
Team Katana
Team Saber

All were not with the company, each team had 5 Spartans, so 15 Spartans are currently KIA and MIA, with that said, there are still 315 Spartans with an unknown status.

What do you think happened to them?

After Reach fell, they were deployed, which still makes me think why they weren't deployed earlier and sent to Reach when it was under attack for over a month. They could have changed a lot, and even could have changed the tides of the battle, but it's up to our minds and the future Books of the Halo universe, so this is up to the community, You, what happened to Gamma Company?

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Karen Traviss is said to be writing new novels based in the timeline after Onyx. Maybe she'll be writing about those characters. She did say there would be new characters, too. So, maybe it could be Gamma.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Team Katana is alive. They were inside the Slipspace pods, in suspended animation. They were recovered by Kurt and Co. and taken through the portal to the Shield World.

Yeah. Although I also want to know what is going on in the Dyson Sphere. I wish Eric Nylund would come back.

Thus why I said KIA AND MIA.

Team Katana is alive, although as they went into the Dyson Sphere, they were considered MIA as Kurt put them as that status before his death.

Oh, I missed the MIA part.

And I just checked GoO, and Kurt did not list Katana as MIA before he died. He listed himself and all the Spartan's that had died that day: Dante, Holly and Will.

Are you referring to when Kurt is seconds away from his Death in the face of the Gold Elite? I thought he did. Oh well, I'm sure the other Spartans listed them MIA after not receiving contact with Onyx for a while, right?

I cant remember, but I belive so. Saber found Gladius KIA by the Onyx Sentinels, and had a transmission from Katana before they were forced into Zone 67. But I'm not sure Kurt would have lost faith and hope in his Spartan's that fast, and wouldint list them MIA without confirmation.

I'm not talking about Kurt or the Spartans on Onyx, I'm talking about the others, the 315 out there, I'm sure they would have sent contact to Onyx only to not receive a reply. They would eventually be concerned, send a team to check it out, lose the team that was sent by the Onyx sentinels and eventually give up hope or they all go in and try to find them. Whatever it is, they would be listed MIA after a long time of no contact.

No.

Gamma Company was currently out system on an op. They wouldint have time to be worrying about what was happening on Onyx. Anyways, the Agincourt was sent in, and never returned, bringing back a messege that Onyx was compromised.

Gamma had no idea what was going on. I doubt they would have gone back. They would have all died. No fleet, Covenant nor Human could stack up against trillions of Onyx Sentinels.

Well that is where things get interesting. They had no idea what was going on, lets say after their op, they were told to return to Onyx with their superiors, they attempt to make contact with no response before their departure. The message sent by Agincourt would have taken a while to have reached any colony, remember, Onyx is pretty much on the outer rim, it would be a while.

I believe that 60 of Gamma Company were present in the Headhunters story. The mission plan was to have the two teams of Headhunters blow up as much stuff as possible and then a dozen Spartan III fireteams would be sent in to clean up the mess. 12 times 5 (fireteam) is 60. Now, my logic for these 60 Spartans being from Gamma Company is as follows:

The mission would have taken place in or around 2552. Evidence to support this is the Headhunter's equipment. They were field testing VISR technology which had not seen widespread deployment as of this mission. In ODST, set in 2552, Buck and his had only just received VISR specially for there mission. This is mentioned in a Vidoc. So at the Headhunter's mission would have been sometime before this putting it roughly late 2551 or early 2552. More evidence again is the inclusion of the Av-cam armour ability, something included in Reach's campaign, again set in 2552.

The only Company of IIIs around at in 2552 was Gamma, who were deployed in September/October (can't remember exactly). So clearly the 60 Spartans mentioned were Gamma Company Spartans.

As for the rest, I'd assume that after Reach's fall all remaining assets were sent to Earth. They probably took part in it's defence.

Even then, I doubt Gamma Company would do one op and return to base. Considering the distance Spartan III's targets had, I'm sure they would complete mission after mission.

Remember the Agincourt was delivering supplies for the upcoming Delta Company. Onyx installation wouldint have space for two companies; over 600 Spartan's + personel working at the camp.

Never mind the fact that Earth was under attack at the time Onyx was destroyed. There is no way Gamma Company would be heading back to Onyx for no particular reason while Earth was being attacked.

I doubt Installation 05, In Amber Clad was the only UNSC ship to have followed, and the Ring is thousands of lightyears away from Earth, even with slipspace, it would be a long time to get there.

I think it would make for a more "true" halo game if it were to go back to installation 5.

They could have been on some of the ships that followed Regrets to the installation and got there late. And given orders from Lord hood to contain the flood threat at halo and infiltrate high charity to retrieve cortana.

So we could have missions inside covie ships, 3 way battles, and get to see another side of high charity during the war.

But this is what i think when i think about it.

I don't know, wouldn't it be smarter if they stayed back on Earth protecting the homeland? Or they could have been sent to the other 5 Colonies that were never found by the Covenant.

On October 31, Kurt thinks about how there were 300 SIIIs present the previous week. So they left sometime at the end of October. Earth was attacked on the 20th. Not enough time for ship to get to Onyx to deliver the news, but perhaps a slipspace COM probe could?

Thanks for the date check. Yeah, I suppose an attack on Earth would warrant the use of the slipspace probes. In any case, the other 60 I mentioned could have already been deployed without knowledge of a battle at Earth. This would explain why there were still missions going on despite them being irrelevant, due to the Covenant's discovery of Earth.
