Subject: Truth's fleet could not of destroyed Earth's defenses.

Signatures are for squares.

If you believe Truth took over Earth with 30 ships, when it took 700+ ships just to take over Reach, then you're insane.

Truth had deployments all over the world. He more than likely assaulted Earth with 1,000+ ships over the course of a month, and had 30 ships left by the time he made it to the Ark.

pay attention to the dialogue

ODPs operated in battle clusters of 3 with navy support.

300 spread out over the orbital surface area of a plant would give each cluster hundreds or thousands of mules distance from the next one assuming equidistant spread, thus only one cluster of 3 ODPs could engage Regret at once, the rest would be well outside the kill zone.

the Athens and the Malta were blown up by boarding crafts with bombs, leaving only the Cairo pumping out slugs. It still got plenty of kills, but in the end Regrets carrier managed to slip right by whilst it was engaging other targets.

All perfectly plausible.

The same goes for the second battle of earth nut on a grander scale, each cluster of 3 platforms dealing with its own little bit of Truths fleet. Its not surprising that a keyship could just stroll right by given forerunner transcendent technology and materials science, getting hit with an SMAC slug would have knocked it around good and proper though purely according to newtonian physics if not actually damaged it. Perhaps thats why we see it burning on re-entry at the start of halo 3, it came down fast and hard if undamaged.

Not to mention that in ODST it seemed that some Covenant vessels seemed to just completely by pass defenses completely by initiating a slipspace jump that drops them right above New Mombasa rendering the platforms useless.
That is actually pretty true, and makes me wonder how this is possible. Bad story writing?
Besides the fact that they then knew that they could use slip-space inside atmosphere?

They can jump from atmosphere easily. The oposite is also possible to do with covie tecnologie, but extremely dangerous

Maybe, but regret attacked the ODPs above Mombasa so a whole was already oppened plus when you look out side at certain parts of the first mission in Halo 2 you see a whole Blam! load of UNSC ships being destroyed. Also at the end of halo 2, truth showes up with the drednought and possibly even more reinforcments to the already present battle taking place. Also truth may have used 30 ships in the battle above Mombasa. Plus were did you here 30 ships from?
