Subject: How am I supposed to get an xbox controller to work on a pc

I was play custom edition and I thought playing with a xbox controller would make it easier Problem is I looked up on how to get my controller to work for it and all I could find was web pages saying I had to solder my controller. How would I go about getting an xbox original controller to work on a toshiba windows seven laptop?

Good players work together...and no matter how good you are, you're not physic. - blade6321

I wouldn't even bother. The 360 controller is wonky with Halo PC, and I would expect the original to be even worse =/

Cheese, yum.

Take the 360 controller.

Plug the USB end in.

There.

Whoever the -blam- says to solder the controller or whatever is a retard.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

You definitely either need to buy an adapter to make it fit, or open it up and start soldering wires.

You need either a "wired" Xbox controller or a Wireless to USB adapter for your wireless controller. I have not seen the Wireless to USB adapters for a couple years, and MS discontinued the wired controller for a while, but they are back in production now. The wired controllers are a bit more responsive, and lighter, and will work with your pc or xbox. Cheap too... only $30 on amazon.

The play and charge cable will not work, it will only allow the computer to charge your wireless controller.
