Subject: Thoughts on Halo evolutions?

Shape Up or Ship Out*

Its been awhile since i've purchased a halo novel. last was Cole Protocol (have every one before that). I know Halo evolutions came out and was wondering if it was any good. Also what books have been released since Cole Protocol?

Halo: Evolutions is a good addition to the Halo lore. Sure, some stories are better than others, but that's what happens when you have an anthology of stories made by separate authors.

Nylund is hit and miss for me. Didn't like The Fall of Reach, but I did like First Strike and Ghosts of Oynx. And yes, Nylund writes a story about Admiral Preston Cole. It's interesting, but I don't re-read it. The story by Karen Traviss detailing Cortana's struggle against the Gravemind is much better in my opinion.

hmm a story about Cortana would be interesting since you get a glimpse of her mind sometimes during other books and was it about Admiral Cole and those nukes he made and had in final strike?

The Return (the story of the Elite Shipmaster who returns to the planet he glassed during the War) and Human Weaknesses (Cortana's story in High Charity while the Grevemind tries to corrupt her) are absolutely awesome

The whole book is very good, If you like Halo's story, then you'll like it

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

The Mona Lisa...*shivers*...is an amazing, mysterious story about The Flood. It was my favorite story. It starts off a bit slow, but it's so good.

Halo evolutions is a definite must, there are a couple of stories that I thought seemed to drag a little (just my personal opinion) but the rest are really interesting and some are just outstanding!

Also to answer you questions about any other novels; there has been one more released entitled Halo Cryptum, its a very different style from the others as it is set 100,000 years ago and is based around the Forerunners (Very interesting)

Evolutions is a must get if you're a fan who's at all serious about the Halo lore. I've loved every story I've read so far, they're all unique and all offer their own little look into the Halo universe, from Spartans, both IIs and IIIs, to ODSTs to Elites. I'd highly recomend reading Evolutions at the least.

As for other books that have come out since Cole Protocol, the only ones I know of are Evolutions and Cryptum, which is the start of a new trilogy. And a trilogy set in the time period after Halo 3 is due to come out at some point in the near future I believe.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Evolutions is an absolute must have to fans of the Halo story, I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed reading The Return, Human Weakness and The Mona Lisa. There's some other excellent stories in there too.

IMO there were no bad stories in Evolutions. I liked them all, I liked all the books to. I thought Nylunds story about Cole and Dirt were the best.

If you go to get Evolutions, they released two volumes with some new art and stories. They do contain the previous stories too, but you decide what you want to do.

As for Cryptum, it's good, but don;t expect it to make sense at first.

And you also get to see how horrible of a bastard Gravemind is. The whole story is essentially the Gravemind forcefully making her crazy by outthinking her. Is a great story.

"Human Weakness" was one of my top favorites from Evolutions, I can't wait to see the actual Halo book Karen Traviss is working on :D

Definitely, it has all the same makings of a survival horror movie like Alien was, they'd probably need to make an actual real ending for it though if it was made into a real movie :P

Awesome addition. It's got some great stories. Unfortunately, it has a few bad ones. But the good ones more than make up for it.
