What do you mean? It's autumn already! Well, it is where I am. ;)

You guys need to learn the skill of patience: If Halo 2 takes another year to finish, I'm not going to lose any sleep. Remember that Oni was announced at E3 in 1998, and was only shipped in April 2001, with features like multiplayer stripped from it. "Fall 2004" is nothing for a game like Halo 2. I'm sure this has been complained about way too many times now. Learn how to wait, or you'll never appreciate anything.

Ooh, that sounded deep.

Look at Halo. Its development cycle wasn't much longer, and the game underwent drastic changes, including changing it to a completely different platform midway through development.

but theres always the question starting with What if.

What if Bung!e are pulling our legs on this one?
What if the game isn't going to live up to it's reputation?
What if the game doesn't come out in fall (spring for some)?

I wouldn't mind if it came out next spring.. if it meant that the game was going to be noticeably better in many ways.

Yeah, nothings getting done. Oh, they do have a new site though. They're also getting us new screenshots every week. Oh yeah, they're also telling us what in Halo 2 has been worked on each week. Hmm, they're also hosting a Fanfest coming up, they're giving us another contest with the new site, and they're working all the bugs out of this site. Oh, they're only human, I'm sure in your heart of hearts you can forgive them for all their slacking.

Personally I'm not even holding my breath for the "Fall 2004" release date. It sounds like there's still a lot to be done to the game, and it really wouldn't surprise me if we were still frustratedly reading sites like this one in lieu of playing our shiny new copies of Halo 2 at Christmas.

I wouldn't say that Bungie are slacking though. I'm sure that the game will be released when it's as good as it can get. We all know that if Bungie themselves had the final say then Halo wouldn't have been released when it was - M$ pushed them to have the game ready for launch of the XBox - and look at how amazing that worked out. I'm just content knowing that when it finally arrives we'll have a game that has been completed, polished and perfected to the complete satisfaction of the Bungie peeps.

Although I wouldn't exactly complain if the game came out sooner rather than later ;) ...

I doubt it will get delayed past Fall 2004.

First of all Fall goes on until and into December people, releasing a game after Christmas isn't going to do it much good.

Secondly, they didn't say "Fall" for nothing. They can still shift it around a couple of months. They'd be in a lot more trouble if they had said september, november or even an exact date.

Also, I think it's a bit ignorant to assume the Bungie people are "slacking". I really believe they're working their ass off.

Well, they wouldn't *want* to miss the Xmas deadline, but that doesn't mean that they won't. Bungie maybe aren't fairly compared to other game writers, (superior beings that they are), but just look at how many games miss their supposed release dates nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I want them to make the Fall deadline as much as the next Halo fan, but I'm not going to explode with shock if something crops up which means the game is delayed.
