Those ruins I believe are ancient Forerunner structures that were moved to the ring after it's construction. Then the elites glassed it to stop the infection spreading and activating the Halo, because as far as I know, Miranda didnt keep the Index.

I say they are ancient human, when i look at them i think of mayan building structures.

This

Same can be said with the sandbox/sandtrap and babysitter ruins

Well we now know for a fact that the babysitter ruins are human, i doubt the ones on halo are precursor becuase they don't llok like it was described (gray and crystal like). So human is pretty much all we have.

This is all true. I thought that Mendicant had kept his Ring out of the fight and held back while using others. If I remember correctly, it didn't sound like he used his Halo at all during the battle, I could easily be wrong though, especially since I can't really remember what was said about the battle, I kinda got overloaded.

Mendicant Bias took control of his maximum five rings and started to fire them. One of them got destroyed as Bornstellar/Didact tried to escape at the same time as the other seven rings. At least one of the seven rings was also destroyed and there were six rings at the ark. It is implied that at least one of MB's rings was able to fire as the capital was presumed gone.

This whole section was extremely confusing and I had to re-read the end of the book before posting anything.

It certainly was pretty confusing, I would go back and re-read it, but I don't own the book, yet, I borrowed it from a friend and already gave it back. Yeah at least one of them definitely had time to fire. I guess I'll just wait for the next book to see what exactly it was that happened, though I still think it is a likely possibility that Delta Halo was Mendicant's, but yeah, we'll just have to wait and see.

It is confusing and i should probably go back and re-read it.

I thought that a forerunner ship came and destroyed 1 of the rings while MBs 5 moved toward the captial to fire. The other rings then tried moving to the portal while also engaging forerunner ships and one 1 halo made it through the portal but has heavily damaged.

Was it something like that?

That was part of it, I know every ring that wasn't under Mendicant's control started moving toward a portal to the Ark. I think it said a couple of Mendicant's rings were destroyed. I didn't catch how many Halos made it through the portal, though I do remember that one was destroyed going in and one was heavily damaged and they had no intention at that time of repairing it.

Weren't it mostly just Mendicant's five Rings and their forces that were engaging the Forerunner ships?

1 was destroyed while going through and another passed through with borns ship and went to the ark (and is being repaired).

I am honestly going to go back and read that part again so i can explain it properly.

Good idea, maybe you should post relevant parts so we all know what it really says and can actually analyze it, if I had a copy I'd do it myself, but I don't own yet (I think a trip to Borders shall soon in order for me).
