Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

It lets you keep track of how much you have played each time. It lets you keep a list of friends you play with or want to play with and it lets you join into their game if they are playing a game.

yeah, it is pretty sweet. It tells you when there are updates for your games, what servers your friends are in, and which friends of your friends are playing. It also lets you chat in the middle of a game without having to close the game window.

Xfire is a quick instent messanger for all internet games. It lets u log automatically onto ur friends game without the hastle. Most halo clans use this beacuse of neatness abnd orgANIsasion. Remember that this ios bretter then IM. It even lets u talk durring game plauy.

You can make a favorite server list for each of the games you play. Also includes voice chating if you have a microphone.

I think they covered it pretty well up there. Xfire's just an IM program that can be used alongside and with most PC games, including Halo PC and Halo Custom Edition. It allows in-game IM services as well as optional voice chat (with microphone, of course).

To be completely frank, though, I would consider a few things. Firstoff, how good a game system your laptop is. If your laptop is lower-end, as in, you turn every single detail to "low" and it still runs with lag, then having an extra program taking up precious processor power and RAM isn't a good idea, no matter how convenient. Also, I'm not sure if Halo should be run alongside Xfire on such narrow bandwidth. Perhaps someone else can tell you if you can run both at the same time using 56K

I think what it comes down to someguy is that it's not about convincing your grandpa to let you have it. it SHOULD be about thanking your grandpa for letting you play halo on it. Because when it comes down to brass tax it's your grandfather's laptop and not yours. I can tell just by you mentality through your typing that your still fairly young. So what i'm really saying is, just be thankful your grandfather is being kind enough to let you play halo.

On a side note yes x fire is a great messaging program but in the year that I had it installed n my computer I was never challenged or asked to play a game by anyone save for clan members and forum junkies

It takes about 2MB.
