But small Plotholes lead to bigger ones, and here is a bigger one.......

How did they drop Johnson and miranda on Earth or even in Africa when Truth's fleet could have shot them down at any minute? Halo has big Plotholes.
Drop into atmosphere somemwhere else, then have a pelican fly low to Crow's Nest and enter it from the west.

The covenant had forces across the globe. They would have been shot down by them.

Just because the Covenant have forces worldwide doesn't mean that they have the forces necessary to enforce a global no fly zone. It would have been pretty easy to fly in as long as the pilot avoided all major areas of covie activity.

Also remember that the force at earth was much smaller than it would have been in the Spartans hadn't blown up Unyielding Heirophant during operation: FIRST STRIKE.

Xbox has been around since I've been around.

Everyone hopped on Johnson's back and he carried them home.

I'm a bit surprised there hasn't been a short story/novel/comic about this yet, but it's possible that Karen Travis' novel (the GoO parallel) will answer it.

I don't see why since it is a minor "hole" and the events are post halo 3.

Ghosts of Onyx takes place between Halo 2 and 3, and the upcoming novel isn't a direct sequel, so it's quite possible that something taking place along the same time frame could be about Johnson/Miranda. Since Blue Team/Halsey and MC's exploits have already been covered by a novel and comics respectively, I think this is really the only thing left to do (other than Grey Team, possibly), and it would be interesting to really go into the details of the truce between the Sangheili and humanity.

I haven't read any of Travis's works, but as I understand from what others have said here, she's gone as far as to craft things like extensive vocabularies of alien languages in past works. Seems like this sort of suits her. Then again, so far, none of the past authors have been that well suited to writing the books. The novels have consistently failed to deliver from a character development standpoint, but that's just my opinion.

From what I've heard Karen Travis pretty much single-handedly developed the most important aspects of the Mandalorians in Star Wars and was the one most responsible for shaping them into the guys we all know and love today. And she wrote the Halo short story Human Weakness, which I have heard very good things about, so yeah, I trust her abilities as a writer.

Funfact: George Lucas officially canned her work on the Mandalorians and her writing of the Republic Commando books because it contradicted how they were depicted in his cartoon. -blam!- ing G-Canon...

And yes, she is a brilliant author for character. Just read Human Weakness; amazing. And there was no action scenes! It was just a story of how easily the Gravemind can tear into your mind, about as easy as a blowtorch through tissue paper.

But I actually think Contact Harvest was another good example of good Halo character devolopment. Joe Statten should've written Halo: Reach.

Depending on when they got back, it could have been after Truth concentrated his remaining forces around the Ark. And even then, most of them seemed to be on the eastern side.

It took 13 days to get to Delta Halo, so if it takes about the same time to get back, they could have arrived just one day before Truth arrives at Earth.

"Truth could've landed anywhere, but he focused all his forces here, East Africa, near the ruins of New Mombassa."

Its clear that there is not plot hole. They just stealthed their way in.
