Signature for rent

I remember when I first met them in Halo 1.

The Human Combat Forms scared me to hell. I met my first one in one of those narrow square hallway things and I screamed "AHHHH! ZOMBIE!"

I liked the flood a lot better in Halo 1. The only thing that I liked better in Halo 2 was the little poppers re-animating a dead flood. Gravemind was just ridiculous.

They are easier to kill in Halo 2. So, The Flood is better in Halo.

Way better in Halo. So what if they are more powerful and have shields in Halo 2? If they had more numbers then they would be way better in Halo 2. I got scared to hell last night playing The Maw on the part in the armory. I couldn't hear them or see them and all of a sudden I turn around to look for a rocket I see it standing there and I shot at that thing at least 5 times dead on and it still lived.

The Flood in Halo seemed to be competing for the Special Olympics. At no point did I believe they could pose a real threat to the galaxy. I was never in the Armory part for more than a few seconds, so Ive never seen these camo flood. I played H2 first, and I never really listened to their name for some time. They were just the enemy.

I jumped to Halo, and the flood just werent as scary. Big, unorganized mobs that show no knowledge of tactics. After beating the Library on Legendary, I was honestly surprised at how easy it was. You just need to move no more than a foot at a time. The flood will appear in piecemeal fashion, easy killings. Sometimes I had to kill them, backtrack, then go forward and spawn them again over a dozen times before they stopped coming. I cant recall more than 3 points where I died.

But my most important point. Not once did I see them using anything more complicated than a gun. No hogs, nothing. A creature too retarded to figure out a gas pedal cannot infect the universe. The Covenant could just fly off and leave the T&R. Problem solved.

If they could use ships, that strongly suggests they are intelligent, feelling creatures. Gravemind is my favorite character in the entire series. I felt sorry for the Flood. They just wanted to survive, and they can only do that one way. The Forerunners commited genocide a million times greater than Hitler ever did, destroying a species that was too different from the others to communicate. For a 100,000 years Gravemind sat, alone, trying to understand why he was hated so. IMO Gravemind is essentially an autistic child who has just realized there are other intelligent creatures out there. Ah damn, I got teary eyed thinking about space zombies. I always was soft like that.

Halo was better for flood. There were lots, they just kept coming, and they were more of a threat than a few mosquitos.
P.S. I hate flood.

P.P.S. I like cheese

they are cooler in haloce, but better in halo2.

haloCE vs halo2
infection: suck vs a lot better
carrier: good vs not as good
human ranger: good vs good?
elite ranger: good vs shielded?!omg!
juggernaut: n/a vs shoulda been

the whole cycle of an infection actually taking corpses sold me on hte halo2 flood.

I like the flood from Halo 1. The flood AI was much better done in Halo 1. In Halo 2, the flood were just plain stupid and easy. Actually, all of Halo 1's enemies were smarter than in Halo 2. Did anybody else notice that? In Halo 2, it seems like the elites aren't trying as hard to kill you.

You people really do seem to love the surprise factor of the flood in Halo 1. I didn't find them that surprising, but that might be because a friend told me about the flood and what level they were in before I got to 343 Guilty Spark. He said they were really difficult, but I found them easier.

Halo 3: Collapse
Chapter 20, Revelations, is up (update 11-14-10)
The Mirratord

Ω

Both have their advantages. It was a huge tactical adjustment in Halo 2, realizing that infection forms could reanimate dropped combat forms. Given the way the Flood works on a biological level, though, this makes perfect sense.

However, for overall combat, I have to say I thought they were better in Halo: CE. Part of this may be due to the fact that they were dropped on you completely by surprise (my initial reaction was something like "HOLY S***!" [depresses trigger]). Bungie was right to exclude them from the manual. However, another thing that made them better in the original was the fact that they were more numerous. You would be faced with hundreds rather than dozens of infection-forms at the same time (like holding off the Scarab beetles in the Mummy movies with a machine gun). Maybe this is because in H2 more processing power had to be devoted to the graphics. I can only hope that in H3, having several gigahertz more processing power to work with, that both of these factors (reanimation and numbers) are reunited.

By the way, if any Bungie staffers read this, DON'T have High Charity be effortlessly destroyed or ignored in H3. The Flood could unleash hell on the galaxy from there. With High Charity under their control, they could conceivably take on both the Covenant and all of humanity's defenses at the same time and win, perhaps even make it necessary to activate Halo...

They were much better in Halo CE. The levels you played which had them and the way they were introduced was very cinematic and ominous in a cool way. They would seem to come out of nowhere, pouring through vents and such and forcing you to fight in chaotic and hectic manner that was different to fighting the covenant. They threw up more surprises too, like when you turn round and one of them is standing right behind you, you jump out of your skin and thwack, they take you down. In Halo 2 they are more like generic enemies and don't really do anything special, although the re-animation was a nice touch. Also, learning that they were controlled by a prop from the Little Shop Of Horrors which spoke in stupid rhymes like a character Shakespeare discarded, really took the scare factor out of them for me. Anyone who played Halo 2 first missed out big time IMO.

I liked them more in Halo 1 myself. They seemed a lot easier to kill in Halo 2 and plus you have to use different tatics on them. In Halo 1 you had to worry about the insane jumps and long distance melees. But in Halo 2, you can run right up to them and kill them with a sword with no worries. Plus in Halo 2 its a lot harder to save that ammo by using melee on the infection forms. And honestly we need the assualt rifle back because it works better for the infection forms than the smg or other weapon.

I agree. I got a real Resident Evil feel from the flood in halo 2 and who doesnt love a good zombie fight?! I was also impressed with the way the flood were introduced in Halo 1. That scared the hell out of me and I love it!

you need air dude.............

i liked them in both games as they provided different challenges so it keeps the gamer on top of his game. you got to remember that halo 2 was pushing the xbox to the limit so i would'nt expect it to have mroe enemies as the A.I is better but imagine what the flood will look like in halo 3.

I think they're better in Halo 1. They really scared the crap outta me. Now I can't even feel perfectly safe in Two Betrayals without hearing a gurgle.
