52,000 kills in Halo 2 and more legendary playthroughs in CE than you can imagine. I am truly a God.

Over the last ten years I have been a huge fan of Halo, looking to every sequel as the next chapter in something that I hold above almost any other thing that I can think of. The universe that Bungie created which was so lovingly crafted, the characters that I grew so attached to their developments over the games and their hardships that they endured to get there, there is a beauty to each Halo game that I cannot put into words.

I never really thought a game could be so important to me that it would become something that defined a large part of my life, nor did I think that I would live to see the day where Video games would Reach the point where their Drama could match that of a well crafted movie, that is until Halo came along. I cried at the end of Halo 3, and that changed the way that I looked at games forever, drama in games Has come to the point where I can feel a characters pain, joy, suffering, and watch them grow more convincingly then I ever thought possible.

The sombre tone of Reach was the high point of this for me, I have never had such a haunting feeling left in me after the conclusion of a game. The building doom of Reach and the loss of some very well crafted characters who I just wanted more of mixed with the fact that this is the last true Halo game dawning on me again brought out the old sob at the end of Reach.

Through all of this the one thing that helped drive the drama and emotion I felt more that any other thing was the amazing music that drove these games onward. Every Halo game has had beautiful music and to this day I listen to OST's very regularly, each game having it's own feel and tone set by it's soundtrack.

Here are some of my favourite tracks from the past Halo games.

Ashes
Winter Contingency
High Charity Suite
Epilogue
Sacred Icon Suite
Heretic, Hero
Peril
Halo
Siege of Madrigal
Rock Anthem For Saving The World
Skyline

I love you Bungie that said I hope you know that there are people who appreciate the effort you make in the quality and detail of your games.

Please take some time to show some love guys, I would like this thread to not die. Games are an art so let's celebrate that fact.

The music is great! I agree!

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I loved Ashes. Probably my favorite from Reach. Unforgotten is one of my favorite songs out of all the Halos. Deference for Darkness and Overture are great songs from ODST. Spirit of Fire is also a prominent song from Halo Wars that's very, very good. These songs are very special and bring out a certain emotion in me. It cannot be explained and I, to, didn't know something like a video game series could be such a huge part of your life.

Even the greatest were once at the bottom.

I remember playing Halo: CE at my friend's house all those years ago... I sat there in awe while we played 2-Player Split Screen Co-op Campaign. Clutching the Xbox's brick-like controller. From that day until I got my own copy I went over to his house after a long day of school, and we explored the alien world that consumed our interests. Now it feels like Halo's mysterious and epic fictional world is no longer feels alien, as it is so much as a home.

OP: Well said brother! I reflect the same feelings towards the game/universe as you. When I look back over the last ten years, I realise how much the game has impacted on me as person. I don't think I'll ever forget Halo, or Bungie, for that matter.

Bungie have a talent for creating such in-depth universes. I owe a lot to the dedicated, talented people in our beloved studio. Words alone fail to describe how much it all means to me.

Thank you, Bungie <3

Now that's what I was looking for!

I am glad to see some love, the Reach forums have become a blight to our community as of late.

Why Bungie? Why did you go and ruin it?

I agree, The music has been the best I have ever heard in video games or even movies.

When I am writing a paper for class, or studying for a test I tend to turn on the Halo OSTs and listen to them as I work. Most of the time this works amazingly and I get the work done.

However, sometimes It makes me want to put my laptop away and bust out some campaign.

The music of Halo is amazing and I can't wait for Bungie new IP

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

I remember when I was 7, and I played the Halo 2 campaign for the first time.

I didn't understand the story, and I didn't pay attention to how well the "feel" of the levels related to the story. The music made it 10x better, but I still did not pay attention to it. My only mission was bragging rights about how I had beat Halo.

Years later, I'm more alert of a great game, and I can tell you that Halo: CE and Halo 2 were by far the greatest campaigns that I think I will ever play. Halo 3, maybe a little less. But I can honestly say that I was dissatisfied with Halo Reach.

EDIT: @ above post...

Me too.

@NavG123

This is a thread to celebrate our love for Bungie and their efforts with the Halo series, don't be a buzz kill, we don't need negativity taking the wind out of this thread.

I thought it was just me who had let the mythos become a significant chunk of his life.

Something about escaping into a better world where im someone significant, instead of being just another nobody in the real world. :)

I'm sorry!

I couldn't have said it any better myself!

I've loved Halo ever since I first played it 10 years ago. I own all the special editions, nearly all the books, the encyclopedia and the DVDs.

Whilst most my mates laugh at me ( I am 22 after all ) I still manage to justify the reasons for loving this new world we call Halo.

Hopefully 343 can continue it's epicness for years to come.

Let's get it own!

Right there with you. Ten years of awesome lore and gaming. And of course music. I have a few tracks on my iPod that jump in my work out playlist, others that pop up when I'm driving, and others for when I'm reading Halo novels. I completely agree with you on this and dig your tracks along with these:

The menagerie (ODST)
Farthest Outpost (Halo 3)
Ghosts of Reach (Halo 2),(after :45 seconds, best track ever!!)
And Covenant Dance (Halo CE)

Friends before pixels.

What about Mombasa Suite?

  • 03.29.2011 8:39 PM PDT

I absolutely agree with everything you have said. The games are unbelievably awesome, Halo games have always felt very touching and special compared to all other games, partly due to Marty's music, but also because of the story and characters. I've felt very sad ever since I heard that Bungie wouldn't be making any more Halo titles.

Although I think 343 Industries has the potential to make a very good game, it won't feel the same. Even if 343's game ended up being absolutely identical to one Bungie would have made, just knowing Bungie didn't do it would make it less special. Bungie created Halo, and has nurtured it for over 10 years, it just won't feel the same without them.

We love you Bungie! And I hope you make a new series that will become as special to us as Halo is.

The tide is turning, brothers! Let us take our kingdom back!

It's hard to think what it would be like if I hadn't have discovered Halo. I agree with everyone in this thread about how amazing everything about Halo is.
