"Concise and devoid of elegance...what I have come to expect from human communication"-Endless Summer

Didact was VERY old in human terms, can't remember how old he was though. Anyone know how old Forerunners could be?

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Weren't forerunners meant to be immortal, getting stronger/wiser as they aged?

"Concise and devoid of elegance...what I have come to expect from human communication"-Endless Summer

I read somewhere that they could eventually die of age...but I was wondering how old they can get.

I believe the Librarian stuck around for 20,000 years. Humans at the time also lived for unheard of amounts of time, as one of the Humans Bornstellar meets is 300 years old I believe.

I believe the Didact was ten thousand during the time of Cryptum.

The book says that when a Forerunner dies "usually by accident or battle" (that's not the exact quote) their memories/essence is stored in the Domain blah blah blah. Anyway, I took this quote to imply that Forerunner do not die from old age at all, rather their deaths occur from falling in battle or due to accidental circumstances, similar to Elves from LOTR. I would say their lifespan is indefinite.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Switch has pretty much hit the nail on the head, Cryptum implies that the death of a Forerunner is a rarity amongst their species.

Yet for some reason the librarian is said to be the oldest living forerunner and she is 16,000 years old ( i think).
So it can be suggested that forerunner technology really didn't had just hit it's peak or else she wouldn't be the oldest.

An assassin will always carry on, even after death.

I'm sure it said there were a few Forerunners as old as the Librarian. Even with extreem technology, something will get you. I'm sure there was some sort of diesese, flu of some sort, that was killing off the Forerunners.

If no Forerunners die, the population'd build up into trillions within 1000 years.

I don't think there was but you can correct me if you can, i just clearly remember a lifesharper saying she was the oldest forerunner.

The thing is the armor cures any illness they would get, which is why they never take it off. And with over 3 million planets i am sure they have more than a trillion pop, which is why they consider themselves to be the super power of the galaxy.

Also, it seems like Forerunner population increase is somewhat controlled, or at least not in proportion to the potential increase due to their life-span. For example Born Stellar's parents were over 10,000 years old(?) and only had two children. It seems that although they have the potential to squeeze hundreds of kiddies out over their lieftime they are intelligent enough not to.

I think they had more since Bornstellar said " of all my fathers children i am the most rebellious" or something along those lines. And with saying his mother had just entered a certain stage in which she wouldn't have children for X amount of years.

But you are right for the most part growth seems to be controlled.

Hmm, interesting. *Strokes chin fuzz*

In any case, it still seems likely that the population is controlled.

True I remember that there were certain phases of Forerunner life that don't allow you to reproduce, and I'm sure at some point you no longer want to have children.

I also agree with the earlier point that it is very possible that there are a HUGE amount (see trillion+) of Forerunner in the galaxy at the time as they had a large empire and plenty of planets to live on. They could also create their own livable environments in space, for example the Ark and the surface of the Halo installations. These constructs probably aren't uncommon. So overpopulation wouldn't really be a problem.

Population seemed to be a problem as the didact was telling born how the lidrarian had to look for new world to inhabit while born had thought they were at "max growth".

And that being said i don't think the forerunners built thier own worlds at all or too often, unless for something important like the capital.

Yes I'm fairly young. No, that doesn't mean I'm automatically dumber than you or have less life experience, thats just generally the case. I am not your general case.
