Hey, i havent been here for a few months, and i have been, for the past 2 days, rolling back to older drivers for my Geforce 2. I used to be able to play this game (the trial, because the real version always says "gathering exception data" so im stuck with the trial) perfectly on 800x600 with textures on med. and everything else on high. But, i had installed newer drivers when i bought HL2 and CSS, and these new drivers give me about 15 FPS no matter how low I put the options. I have currently tried 3 diff. driver editions and all have been pretty crappy. If anyone has this card or a card close to this edition PLEASE recommend good drivers. I would REALLY appreciate any help. Thx.

that is a very odd problem. The drivers should be helping, not hurting. Well, make sure that you have no background applications running, and that your card is not overclocked too much. If all else fails, you should download the drivers from http://www.omegadrivers.net/ These drivers work extremely well, and are most definitely compatible with HaloPC and any Geforce card. Also, what were the updates you installed? You should be able to check on the Windows Update download history link.

All i installed was newer drivers for HL2 a few months ago. And im pretty sure its the drivers cuz when i switched from the newer ones to ones that are a couple years old, it made the gameplay smooth enough to be playable. Therefore i know its the drivers. But the old ones i have dont give me the performance i should be getting, like I was months ago when i use to play this game. I will try those drivers and reply back later. Thanks a lot for the help.

Sry 4 double posting, but I just tried the newest omega drivers for Nvidia cards, and used Performance Settings, and when I try to launch Halo, i get this error-
"A problem occured initializing Direct3D. Hardware acceleration maybe disabled, please run DXDIAG."
And i ran DXDIAG, and made sure DirectDraw, Direct3D, and AGP acceleration were all enabled. I even tried disabling and enabling them again, with no luck. What should I do? Why is it giving me this error?

dang dude, this is a serious error. If there was a problem with direct3d, that means that there is definitely something going on on the software side. make sure that hardware acceleration is enabled by clicking on the desktop, going to properties, then settings, and then click on advanced near the bottom of the window. From the new advanced window, go to troubleshoot tab, where there will be a hardware acceleration slider. Make sure it is fully enabled. I hope that this works dude, because I know how annoying it is when computers have strange errors.

Yeah, i HATE strange errors with my comp. Thats why i usually stick with my Xbox, but i REALLY wanna play some Halo online. I pray that i can get this to work. The slider was already at full. I moved it to none, and back to full. -blam!-, I hope you can help me to get this working. Thanks for the help so far. And if i can get this fixed, along with the "gathering exception data" problem with the full version thats gathering dust on my desk, i will be the happiest man alive. For some reason, Halo doesnt seem to like my system. Well, if I cant get these drivers to work, then maybe I could get some older ones that work real good like the ones i had before i bought HL2. Thx for the help so far.

well, if you just want halo online you could try XBConnect. It is totally free software, and aside from just a little lag it offers full Halo online.

I would, but i dont have a router. I really need to get one though. Well, i Downloaded some older Nvidia drivers and its running Halo PC good enough to be playable, so ill just stick with that. If you know ANYTHING about that "gathering exception data" please help me out with that. I REALLY WANNA PLAY THE FULL VERSION THAT I SPENT MONEY ON!!! thx for the help.
