Subject: Man, I really miss the Halo 2 ranking system

Pretty sure I got IP banned by 343i forums for criticizing Reach so much. So I decided to join another message board, and landed here. I'm done complaining about the game because I've found ways to enjoy it.

This ranking system was so much fun, miss those days.

It really was perfect. Ah, the nostalgia.

Too bad things went the way they did. With Halo 3 you were ranked by your greatest skill. But with 2 your level could drop and such, more accurately defining the players.

Even more of a shame that Reach doesn't even have a 1-50.

Sure was very difficult to level in Halo 2, that's what made it great. My best was a 35 in Team Slayer, while my brother got to 38 in Team Slayer. Not sure what those translate to.

Awesome thing about Halo 2 was you could see how much you needed to level up on the website.

Yeah, Hitboxing = fail. For example, a certan user from the maw who has never played Halo 2 Xbox online links to this halo 2 bash video (its much less exreme in acutial gameplay) which shows hitboxing, but it also exists in halo 3, which also has unbalanced weps and n00b armor (recon).

I think I managed to reach level 37 in Slayer for a while, but then dropped back to around 34. I was happy with that, though.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

Yeah, I sucked at Halo 2 at the time, but I still enjoyed a good game of Team Slayer.

Clearly because the desktop uses a 3 prong plug and a laptop uses a 2 prong plug, the microwave will fill your car with tostitos better

Don't we all.

The ranking system was perfecto.

It's a shame the idiots over in the Reach forum have never heard of it, they assume 1-50 = the completely balls H3 system.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

1-50 makes you think you have skill.

I like the reach system, now n00bs can't say "HEY D00D IM BETTAR THEN U TROLOLOLO!", as it counts time, not "skill".

If you didn't Play Halo: CE or Halo 2 MP, your opinion about Halo means nada.

CE + H2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> H3+Reach+H4

Gotta love the way they look just visually a masterpiece.

I got the 44 at my peak. hovered around 37-42 mostly

well if their rank was higher then most of the time they were better. being ranked based on how much you play is pretty lame. rank should be based on skill, and skill alone.

Yep. Now the Reach forums are plagued with those new type of Halo players. The ones who were mediocre at Halo 3 (only getting to around 30) and absolutely love Reach because it is a social game.

I agree, the Halo 2 ELO 1-50 definitely was perfect, too.

It also fosters kill farming, selfish play and far too many stalemates in objective gametypes.

H3 was too, but it pretended to be hardcore. Same with Halo 2.

true they are social games but the leveling in halo 2 took absolute skill and in halo 3 all you had to do was be on the winning team with reach all you have to do is play its like they all they did was make multiplayer playable to attract more people like kids and other people who hate to work to acheive anything
