I will try to be more constructve this time. I have been a member of bungie for as long as I can remember, and it started long before this account. I have been a very dedicated fan of Halo 1 for many years and often feel that there are just no answers to my questions. Instead of responding to my posts, most the time the topic is locked and dismissed. Anyway, since there is no adequate way to search these forums for past posts let me just ask this, and I would like a simple answer from a moderator or whoever from bungie knows what's up.

Question 1:

It is obvious that there is a huge community (perhaps not as big as the H2 fan community) who still love Halo 1 and feel that they were betrayed because of the radical changes made from Halo 1 to Halo 2.

True or False?

Question 2:

If you answered True, Is it impossible to make Halo 1 for XBL, or does Bungie just feel that they do not want to revisit the game for whatever reason?

I would like to know these reasons, for Example

1. Not profitable?
2. Too time consuming?
3. Looking ahead instead of looking back?

Whatever the reasons I am sure if a mod came on and told us once and for all, like on the front page of Bungie or something, that Halo 1 is in the past and that it will never be revisted, or at least not in the near future, alot of us would move on.

Finally, I know you probably can't answer this question, and I already know the answer anyway but I will ask it regardless. Mt guess is that Halo 3 will be built on the same game engine as Halo 2, mainly for XBL. Is there any way to combine the best qualities of Halo 1 and Halo 2 to come up with the perfect game (Halo 3)?

Sorry for rambling but I just have nothing better to do.

For Question 2 I say it is too time consuming and Bungie needs to work on other projects for Xbox 360. Maybe someday Bunige will update all Halo games on Xbox 360 or maybe Xbox 3. Also I doubt Halo 3 will be made using the same engine as Halo 2. They are always trying to make each game new and different and the best experience possible.

Good questions, I don't believe either have been directly answered in a straight forward mannor. I would also like an official response from the Bungie team (ninja response would suffice). and uhh ... bump.

Once again. Halo was just not written to accept additional content. It pre-dates XBL, and was never intended to be patchable, upgradeable, or to accept add-ons. The core game would have to be re-written in order for it to accept such content.

Here is what I base that statement on. It's the Halo (for Xbox) FAQ. There's this interesting Q/A in it.

Q:
* I heard there will be a free update to Halo called Halo 1.5, which will either be downloadable over the net or available on the cover disc of a magazine. The update is supposed to have new weapons, new maps, and Internet-play capabilities. What's the scoop?

A:
* There is no Halo 1.5 project. The Xbox version of Halo does not have the necessary "hooks" to look for a patch or upgrade, so even if we made new content or features for the game there would be no way to add them.

The key phrase to me is the last sentence in the answer. Sure, it's possible to make new content, but the game itself can't accept/see/import it.

I don't like bursting bubbles, but anyone who insists on this, is mistaken.
Hope this answers most questions.

I personally agree, i like halo 1 more than halo 2, and it should get a little more "attention" if you will.

I'd say it was rather not looking ahead. Remember Halo was first released when there was no Xbox Live yet. However I think saying that the fact that Halo isn't upgradeable is simply pure BS. I'm sorry but for the Xbox version of Halo 1, Bungie should have really thought ahead for Xbox Live compatbility. Certainly we can see the PC version can do multiplayer. It isn't impossible.

But what's in the past is in the past. You can't do anything about it. HOWEVER, you must have heard of the tunneling program XBConnect? You can play Halo 1 online with other peeps, though remember tunneling emulates a LAN network for the Xbox. it isn't Xbox Live.

I don't feel really "betrayed", but for me Multiplayer for Halo 1 isn't an issue. The singleplayer is really good to the point where I don't even need a multiplayer. But it's quite different with Halo 2, where I have a big rant.

1st question: changes were made becuase they were trying to keep people hooked. it has been proved again and again that when you keep doing the same old thing it eventually dies out. while i definately miss certain qualities of the first game, i was happy with most of the changes made. xbl gameplay however is a whole different story and shouldn't even be mentioned here.

2nd question: on a previous thread someone had asked this very question and one of the moderators answered personally. the reason that they don't put halo on xbl is because it would require an entire re-coding of the game. it was never made to except and upgrades or changes. the game would essentially have to be remade and re-released, and they don't see that as being as pressing of an issue when they are as busy as they are. you can see it for yourself: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=5588053

3rd question: i would sure hope that that is what they are trying to do this time around. now that they have had time to gather feedback and see what everyone has to say about everything concering their games, they should definately consider whatever input they can. unless they are going to do something even more unique from the firts two games in which case i just hope they don't start reaching a little too far.

like i mentioned earlier, i love the gameplay for halo 2 campain and multiplayer alike. xbl was fine until it got to overrun with people that like to ruin other peoples fun. and i'm sure halo 3 will be the same. it will be a great game, hopefully with a less predictable plot line, that everyone will enjoy. but once again until microsoft finds a way to clean up xbl there will always be problems there that are beyond the controll of bungie.

halo pc came after halo for xbox, it was made so that it could be used for internet gameplay. xbl didn't even really exist when halo came out, you can't really complain that it isn't xbl compatible.

But, alas, SweetTRIX, they do complain. Your effort to explain to them that it is a lost cause to beg for XBL for Halo was valiant, but a lost cause.

There will always be someone whining about how they want Halo to be XBL compatible. I sent a PM to Shishka to try and get these very repetitive threads stopped. They are just clutter, and a bit annoying. He, or any of the mods, haven't done it yet.

I'll be waiting for it to happen.
