Hey everyone,

Whenever a friend of mine tries to play multiplayer he get the update notification so he clicks OK and returns to windows, but then nothing happens...

I tried to reinstall it and update it then, but still nothing happens..

He's always running version 1.0.0.564 or something and even the manual update's not working, he also has Windows XP home edition.

Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem a few months back. My game would run the auto-update, but whenever I tried to install 1.07 it wouldnt let me. To solve the problem i completely uninstalled Halo, then completely deleted the folder off my hard drive (made sure I kept all my save games and profiles). My suggestion to you is that you do the same, so after uninstalling it, completely remove the entire Halo folder from your hard drive, reboot your computer, and reinstall. That is what fixed my problem, and yours sounds very similar to me.

do that but also dont run the auto update at all just skip to the manual one. there was a problem with auto update sometime in like 1.0.5 and it could be having residual effects on earlier versions perhaps? i dont know. but dont bother with auto update

Yes there is a prob with DX9 on 256 MB card or some such nonsence. Bottom line Download the 1.07 patch from Microsoft and install it manually.
