When they decided to blow up the forerunner world they used their Shaw-Fujikawa Translight drive to make a slipspace matrix in the core of the planet to save humanity. No slipspace jumps for Fire but Fire was able to plot a course for Earth but at normal cruise speed. All crew were put into cryo for the trip. All of this was around the time of Harvest.
They held info about the Flood, Forerunners, and the Covenant. All of this was before Autumn crash landed on the first Halo.

If I'm not mistaken I think by this point it was during the Halo event

They entered....The Twilight Zone...

But on a different note...The legendary ending of Halo Wars has the AI saying "Captain, Wake up...Something has happened."

Just thought I'd throw that information out there for everyone to boggle.

"Captain, Wake up...Something has happened."

Haha i was looking though this whole post to see if anyone mentioned this...

Perhaps The spirit of fire ran into a secret Oni base or something along those lines, Giving up information on the flood, shield world, and everything else they encountered. Oni could have simply marked the ship All hands lost and maybe killed them all. ( hopefully not )

With Oni armed with knowledge of the flood and its potential use as a weapon, send the Mona Lisa to collect samples and conduct experiments. How they got the location of the alpha halo so quick is beyond me, but perhaps they received a transmission from the PoA, Marines, Ect. Perhaps even surviving marines from the alpha halo and they were used in the Mona Lisa's experiments due to the knowledge they had.

I think the story of the SoF and how the Mona Lisa got to the Alpha Halo would make a good fan-fiction or something...until Halo Wars 2 comes out....

I don't see why you all are acting as if ONI would simply 'kill off' or 'keep them in prison basically' to 11,000 people. ONI might not be well liked, but it isn't some evil sub-faction like Section 31 in Star Trek.

Also, from memory, it sounded like the Mona Lisa arrived, and then discovered the flood. They didn't go there with intention of turning it into a bio-weapon.

If somebody could clear that up, awesome.

I'm not suggesting that. There is no way that ONI would imprison/kill an entire crew including three Spartans. However they would have obviously been warned that the info is strictly confidential. "Keep your mouths shut like good little soldiers".

They had an ONI scientist and Elite prisoners on board. They planned to find and use the Flood.

They got elite prisoners from that location...

Anyway, if it was true, the ship wouldn't be labeled "Lost with all hands."

Edit: That's saying they were even found in a short period of time. They did do a blind jump basically following that cruiser, into the middle of nowhere. As far as I know, no other ship could follow their course to begin tracking them.

Random Slip Space malfunctions happen all the time you know.

We, however, will never know of the fate of the Spirit of Fire as it road into the sunset.

How exactly did a prison ship manned by Bridge crew, security officers and a half mad scientist capture Elites? Did they board a Covenant cruiser and kidnap them or just find them floating around the debris field?

Like I said, cover-up. ONI likes to keep things quiet.

I'm confuzzled. Can you explain what you mean? What ship following what cruiser to where?

Tubas Represent!

It's like they appear at the end of the last Halo game, and say were here, what happened to the bad guys?

Caboose: "Oh my God!!!!! Andy!!! Your dead!!! You had so much to live for!!!! So much exploding to dooo!!!!"

I imagine that Serina would send out a distress signal like Cortana did, as for where they are they must be somewhere heading for Earth, assuming they were not captured by the Covenant during the apex of the war, for all we know they may be headed for the same planet that the chief is at the end of H3

I really hope they extend the story, I'd really like to see an encounter between Halsey and Anders :)

The spirit of fire followed the Covenant ship to the shield world. They left quickly, and didn't have time to message the other ships. Likewise, the other ships could have the exit vector, but not how far.

About the prisoners, all I know is that I was looking at the mona lisa info on halopedia, and it said they recovered an Elite prisoner infected by the flood.

  • 03.31.2011 8:52 PM PDT

The ship was labeled "All hands lost" because after the events on the shield world, the SoF was never seen again....at least to our knowledge.

So either they were destroyed/killed on there way back...
or
They are still traveling back into UNSC occupied space

If you hadn't seen a ship for about 5-10 years during a war, you would think that it would have been destroyed and labeled it all hands lost...

About the prisoners, all I know is that I was looking at the mona lisa info on halopedia, and it said they recovered an Elite prisoner infected by the flood.

This could definetly be solid proof that the Mona Lisa was not sent there with the purpose of gathering information on the flood.

The ships soposed medical officer "John Smith" who was actually an ONI officer "who reluctantly reveals that experiments were being conducted on Covenant prisoners with an unknown infection, but then the infection jumped to the human prisoners aboard the ship."

So basicly Smith could have used the prison ship as his own little science experiment untill it spread too much....

KIWIZ RULE THE WORLD!

Its just that nobody knows it yet...

I think it wouldn't take that long ^ things just keep getting faster in space if they travel in a straight line.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

I guess they will just float around until someone, or something stumbles upon them.

Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

I'm hoping the SoF is discovered and leads to another Halo Wars game...

Oh by the way, did I forget to mention? It's rendered! All for viewers like you! ^

Going through everyone's comments of fighting over what really happened and/or not liking it, I happen to like the Spirit of Fire. It has a spirit of fire. It's likely they found and colonized a planet with the beacon still in place. The Galaxy is a big place. Who knows? The Elites may have come across them during their campaign to find and hunt down loyalist Brutes and Prophets that supported and still support the Covenant. Ever think about tha7?

No wait...

I hope that 343 decides to continue their story arc, whether it be in a game or a book or a comic or somthing.

I agree!
