Ok at work we have Wi-Fi. During our lunch break, my friends and I play Halo. I was wondering if there is any way I can connect my xbox to the internet through my Wi-Fi enabled laptop. I also have a linksys router too if that helps any. Thanks =D

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I aslo have Links Sys wireless.

Im telling you it would make the people in my house very happy if i didnt have the 50 foot ethernet cord going through the house to my xbox.

So Answer the question please to anyone that knows.

It can be done.

Simply connect your Xbox directly to the WiFi enabled computer with a cable.

HOWEVER, you MUST be sure you have a crossover cable rather than your regular ethernet cable to directly connect two machines. A crossover cable is very similar to a regular ethernet cable but it has its inner wires reversed. If you don't know how to change your own cord to a crossover, head over to radioshack or some place like that and ask them for one. To help illustrate this setup, heres a texty picture:

XBOX==c=r=o=s=s=o=v=e=r==COMP.-~`~-,.,-~`~-wirelessrouter ==INTERNET!

Also, do the following.... click Start>Connect To>Wireless Network Connection>Properties>Advanced>Then make sure the "Allow other network users to connect through this computers connection" is checked.

If you do all of the above and it doesn't work, chances are you have a router issue and you need to head over to http://www.XBconnect.com to figure out what settings need to be changed. Let me know if you have any problems.

You don't need a crossover cable. A standard CAT5 works fine.

Hmm. What I hear is that most will require a crossover cable but some won't. Why is this?

me and haloist have always needed a crossover to directly connect the xbox to the laptop/PC, a regular ethernet cord doesn't seem to work for us, but if you find that it does work, then feel free to keep using that

The colors of a cat 5 cable are as follows and are connected as follows:

White/Orange
Orange
White/green
Blue
White/blue
Green
White/Brown
Brown

And they are connected directily to the same port on the other end.

In a crossover cable on end differs than the other and it looks like this:

White/Orange
Green
White/Blue
Blue
White/Green
Orange
White/Brown
Brown

In other words, the orange and green cables are crossed on the other end of the cable.

2. put system link into xbox/ put the other end into the labtop/set it next to my tv and thats it works perfect. no cords or nothing.
