Fine, that's a lie, but your question will be dealt with.
I am on my second read through. I was just bringing up the possibility that the prisoner was lying. Remember, everyone in jail is innocent. Why would a Precursor submit itself to an exile in which it had no control over it's release? And waiting for an unknown set of conditions upon which it would be released? An odd way to set up 'our answer is at hand'.
Something about the prologue is also bothering me as I read through again, but I just cannot put my finger on what it is yet.
Good point, no one was around to corroborate the prisoner's story.
There are several strange things about the prologue. The mantle's statement seems contradictory. Bornstellar tells the story as if he is alive and how he seems to know little about the precursors despite the involvement of a precursor(?) in the story.
