Also take into account, yet again, gameplay balance.

If we had a Halo with actual, legitimate interpretations of spartans, we would be running far faster, aiming far more pinpoint, and have reflexes that surpass what even the fictional world of video games can create.

(think the final video of Halo Legends, I felt that was a great example)

ohh because spartans are fat and lazy and cant run for more than 15 seconds. and i dont know how bodies work. not to mention that the augumentations would give them power to run for even longer distances and times.

Clearly you're a lost case if you cannot differentiate when gameplay limitations must be put in place because of how incredulous the system would be were it to follow written canon.

no proof for either so we are arguing.

Well it is a forum, the point is to discuss, and aslong as we keep it constructive then it's not arguing, it's more bringing up holes and seeing how we can collectively figure something out.

It's a good form of cooperation for a community, to work to answer questions that Bungie hasn't answered themselves.
When hostility comes into the picture is when forums lose that value, but since here we are actually making constructive progress of explanation, then nothing is wrong.

*forum high five*

MC Broke his wrist when saluting when he first put his armor on.
Sprint overrides the safety limits and if you do it to long you could brake your own legs with the strength.
Sorce: Contact harvest + Halo reach instruction booklet.

You Just lost the game.

I like to play Devil's Advocate

Spartan armor is pretty heavy

I think it weighs in at a good 1500 lbs....(Don't quote me on this)

Even with the augmentations, I think Spartans could still get tired if they have to break out into full Sprint while running with 1500 added pounds to their body

I've seen millions of threads before and everyone has people who think armor lock is actually part of the universe. It is not. It is strictly for gameplay purposes. Yes, there is a kind of armor lock in the game though that allows you to literally lock armor. That is the real armor lock, not an invincible shield spartans can use for 10-15 seconds. Real armor lock helps you survive falls and crashes as seen in these cutscenes:

Halo 3 Arrival
Halo Reach Entering Spire

Please can this armor lock thing finaly be done with. Infact actually while im typing this, let me also add that Jet Pack is the only Armor Ability that actually exists in the universe.

Yes because you know....

Active Camo

Holograms

Precursor to the Bubble Shield

The ability to roll

never ever existed in the Halo universe...

and run faster than a mild jog

OKAY. So we are here in this quarrel/fight/whatever:
Armor lock is canon - Undecided
Sprint/Evade - Only used for a limited amount of time or Spartan goes poop
Jet Pack - Existed as always
All others - New Covenant technology being tested on Spartan IIIs

OK then. What is not conon about it? I will explain.

I think the best assumption we can make as consumers is that Armor Lock is an experimental piece of technology being developed by the UNSC. (unless there is more info from Bungie that we may not know in regards to Armor Lock)

I mean come on, their guns haven't improved much in 500 years, they had to be developing SOMETHING.

No, armor lock is canon, you are just refusing to admit it. We can have a discussion about how it fits into canon or why it wasn't in later games or we can repeat the same points for a couple more pages.

Armor lock's inclusion in canon; Pros and Cons:

Pros: Armor lock is in the game so it is canon. There is no contradicting evidence.

Cons: You don't want it to be canon.

It's just like Halo Legends, as much as I close my eyes and pretend it doesn't exist when I open them it will still be there.

ok about sprint lets put u in some armor that according to know canon that can make u weigh somewhere around 1000pounds make your muscles built for strenght rather than speed and put some metal around your bones can u sprint maybe can u sprint for a long time safely without risking injury or overheating NO the armor itself has limiters that normally keep u from running above a certain speed the sprint armor ability over rides the limiters and temorarily boosts the cooling systems so u can run for a short distance once your body hits a certain temp limiters are reactivated and the recharging is how long it take u to cool down to safe to run temp

Originally developed by the Covenant and later reverse-engineered by the United Nations Space Command, both versions of Armor Lock are either enabled by an external "plug" attached to the back of the operator's armor, or are integrated to the armor's systems and operate without an external device of any kind. The UNSC version of Armor Lock, which was at its prototype stages by mid-2552, has internal components virtually identical to the Covenant one.[1] By the time of the Fall of Reach, Armor Locking technology was utilized in the battlefield by Sangheili and Jiralhanae combatants, as well as SPARTAN supersoldiers.
