"Concise and devoid of elegance...what I have come to expect from human communication"-Endless Summer

The Flood has obviously destroyed other Galaxies, is there a book that says how many? If not Maybe 343i will use this to explain the apparent lack of life from Andromeda or anything outside of this Galaxy. Or mabey the Flood haven't destroyed any galaxies, maybe it's like how we think Sol has a core. Perhaps we are the last Galaxy left and the Forerunners knew it?

meh...The way the Flood is described by the Forerunners it sounds like they have the potential to destroy many galaxies

I have seen you future

All we know about the Flood is that it's extragalactic in origin. It could be that they used up one galaxy and came here for more. They could also be a precursor creation to punish the forerunners for overthrowing them.

There is no proof that the Flood have destroyed any other galaxies. In fact, it's just as likely that they were pushed out of their previous galaxy as it is that they destroyed it.

Actually, they only attacked this one as far as Cryptum explains.

just because they are extragalactic in origin doesent mean they consumed the boidiversity of another galaxy they may as well been displaced by a much more dangerous foe arriving here their virulent species had no limiting factors so the population exploded and almost took this galaxy

All of the information as to the Floods development in the milky way points to the likely scenario of Elaborate Bio Weapon. The most likely suspect from what cryptum points to is the Precursors.

It was likely developed when their own war with their creations the Forerunner.(Contrary to the popular belief of the precursors acension, the Forerunner killed off the precursors; upholding the mantle my gluttius maximuss)

The precursors must have had either one hell of a long game plan in place, or they collectively decided to "-blam!- those -blam!--ing Forerunner Pricks, let's give them powdered Hyper Smart Space AIDS a hundred thousand years or so down the road."

"And while we are being massive -blam!-s oursleves, let's make sure it enters the space where a younger stupider race will unleash its fullest capabilities; these primeapes over there look
stupid enough to poke around obvious traps."

I thought that the Flood having a Gravemind meant they had consumed all of the biomass of another galaxy?

They achieved interstellar flight and left Earth. The intelligent ones left after killing all of the stupid dinosaurs.

Blasphemy!

OT: The only evidence we have at this point is the Precursors--or some group of Precursors--built the Flood tp punish the Forerunners for their defiling the Mantle. They are extra-galactic in origin, but nobody knows what other galaxies exist they might have consumed.

@Pewter

We still do not know this. Didact speaks of "following in their footsteps" in one of the terminals, and literally states in Terminal 7 "I will begin our Great Journey
without you, carrying this bitter record."

It seems perfectly logical to me that some sort of revelation happened that could be considered ascension. You have to remember the Captive was locked up by the Precursors for a reason; he's obviously dangerous.

"Halo! Its divine wind will rush through the stars, propelling all who are worthy along the path to salvation."

Gravemind: "I have destroyed Fleets of THOUSANDS! I have assimilated a galaxy of flesh, mind and bone!"

I think they have conquered at least one galaxy.

This, thought they may have attacked another while they were absent from the milky way seeing as they never got full control of it.

-_-

The flood moves from galaxy to galaxy in hopes to find food. Most of the time by captured ships of there defeated enemys. Unless you are masterchief, there is no way to stop them.

Ancient humans found a way. So presumably there could be others in other galaxies that could stop the Flood as well.
