Alright, I'd like to thank Iggwilv for organising the games in my absense and I'd like to again wish everyone luck! However, I know some of you may have questions that need to be answered, that's why I created the handy dandy Maw Slayer Tournament FAQ. This guide should answer any questions some of you may have.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. I signed up for the tournament, but I have no idea who I'm with?!
A. Right above this post, is the list of matches and who you are matched with. The format may be a little confusing but this is howit works: the name above or below your's is your teammate. Example:
AFK-jman ---------------------------- [BZP]Luap
-------------------------- VS. ----------------------
goyanks135 ---------------------- XCXVampwood
This indicates that goyanks is paired with AFK-jman and [BZP]Luap is paired with XCXVampwood. To just see the the team pairings check out this thread: THREAD For the rest of the duration of the tounrament we will be posting updates here as well. However more detailed information can be found at those forums. I repeat those are now the OFFICIAL MAW SLAYER TOURNAMENT FORUMS, for the most current info I'd sign up there and look for any updates.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Now that I know who I'm paired with, how do I contact them? I want to make sure to get some practice in before the game starts.
A. In the thread that I linked above you can find out your partner's X-fire name, if you don't have X-fire, or your partner doesn't, then simply PM on these forums, or find his post and get his email address. I repeat, it's YOUR responsibility to contact and practice with your opponent, we simply made it easier for you by providing their X-fire name. We're not here to spoon-feed you guys. If your partner isin't there for your game then we'll simply re-assign you an alternate.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Alright now what time is my game? I want to know who I'm playing as well.
A. For the official schedule of Round 1 simply look at Iggwilv's thread, above, in which he explained the format, and exact time and date of the match, try not to be late, we're running a pretty tight schedule and this tournament's already going to be long as it is. OR check out this thread on the official forums: THREAD The date and time in EST is listed there, and in brackets is the time in YOUR time zone.
We set the dates well ahead (the earliest is Thursday, Jan. 19) to give you guys time to clear your schedule as well as to practice with your teammate. I hope you guys have enough time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Uh-oh that time isin't good for me :( How am I supposed to reschedule my game.
A. Simply post in this thread here: HERE Either that or send me or Iggwilv a PM on the forums here, or, on the OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT forums. Failing that contact us with X-fire. However it is highly recomended you post in that thread, it's a sure-fire way to have me or Iggwilv see that you have a problem. Finally, if you MUST email Iggwilv (his email address is at the bottom of his post) or email me at jman571@gmail.com
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. What maps are we going to be playing on? I want to practice on those specific maps so I'll be ready to take anyone on!
A. You can find the entire tournament format and list of maps we'll be using HERE For Round 1 the two maps we'll be using are:
MATCH 1: Rat Race
MATCH 2: Prisoner
If you don't like those maps then I sincerely apoligize, but that's the way it goes. You'll simply have to make it into subsequent rounds to play on different maps. Once we get into the 1v1 segent of this tournament (once we have 4 teams left) all maps will be randomly generated (courtesy of me, programer extroadinaire ;)) You can also find about the gametype used, how the match will begin and end, how to report a win, and how to decide a winner in that thread.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q.I'm good to go, but now which server do I go to?
A. Good question, if you didn't know already then we'll be playing on Iggwilv's own amazing server. Normally called the "Unofficial B.net Maw Server" the server's name will be listed as "Maw Slayer Tournament". The IP address is: 66.55.158.142 and you can use the "Direct join" feature in Halo to get to the server via IP address. In order to prevent random people from joining the server and wreaking havoc we've set a password on the server. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: You won't be able to join the server unless you enter the correct password, the password will be: maw Either write this down or remember it. If you can't enter the server on time for your match because you forgot there's a password and don't remember it then it's your fault. As always this information is listed HERE AS WELL
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Ahhh my computer just crashed right before I got to the server, I might be late now, does this mean I'm disqualified!
A. Simple answer: DON'T PANIC
Complicated answer: Alright, start your computer up again, and try to get back to the server as quick as possible, if you're seriously having problems try to contact your teammate or an opponent and tell them you're not going to be able to make the game. Then one of yuo will either tell me or Iggwilv and we'll reschedule the game for you. HOWEVER, if no one knows where you are, the players will wait 10 MINUTES and then you will be disqualified from the touney and an alternate will take your place. Tough luck, but the show must go on.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright! That about wraps it up. One more thing. The final rules of the tournament can be found HERE So good luck in the upcoming tourney and I hope to play you soon!
