My best suggestion would be to google for doom3 benchmarks. They should have several video card scores.

im quite sure that the 9800 pro will play doom 3 good. It will play halo like nothing, but doom 3.... i dont think it will have a hard time. it should play quite smooth. but KAG is right, you should go and check benchmark scores with the 9800 pro.

About $100  Its not worth the money, most places sell the 9800XT for the same price as the X800Pro. The 9800pro will run Doom 3 at 1024x768 on high detail w/no AA and 8xAF. This will give you an average of 47FPS, and rarely dip below 30FPS.

EDIT-
Want the linky??

This is the *official* Doom 3 hardware guide. Other places have done similiar, but if you want a good solid opinion, HardOCP is a good place, and their results are not biased in anyway.

Just to let you know and confirm about the pro version is Doom 3 can't play on high quality on anything from the Radeon 9800 Pro and down. Must have anything from a Radeon 9800 XT 256mb and up in order to play Doom 3 on whatever resolution you want.

Wrong again. You are basing this on the fact that Carmack says large texture swapping occurs, so the more RAM the better. In all tests mabye 1 FPS difference has been noticed between the cards. As well, most 9800XT have artifacting at stock clocks in Doom 3, due to being pushed to far from the factory. They may be fine in some games, and even some 9800XT's are fine in Doom 3, but there is definitly a problem. And what do you mean by high quality? High quality textures, or 1600*1200 with high quality textures with 6AA and 8AF?? You cant even get that on the 9800XT lol.

the only difference from the pro and the xt, is that the xt is an overclocked version of the pro. If your not to friendly with overclocking, then the xt is for you.
