Would his military tactics have changed the entire course of the Battle? Sure he wouldn't have the luxury of outnumbering the Covenant fleet 5 to 1 but they had the home field advantage along with 20 SMAC's tearing the Covenant Fleet apart. Cole would have done something to prevent the Covenant from advancing, I'm sure of it.

Tell me your thoughts, would he have changed the battle?

I am Field Master Avu Med 'Telcam, Servant of the Abiding Truth, and I have many brothers.

A god who creates tools is still a god. It is not for us to impose qualifications upon the divine or presume to guess its intentions.

Nope.

Racism isn't wrong if it's funny.

I don't think so. The basic belief is that the entire Covenant army was attacking Reach because the finding of a Holy Relic would have resulted in religious ceremony and the arrival of High Charity for celebration.

Halsey seems to allude to the fact that she always knew that Reach would eventually fall because of the fact that the Covenant were looking for and would eventually find the Forerunner artifact Housed on Reach.

The Covenant had way more then just 700 ships...

They came to Reach with 341 ships, while another 300 ships were orbiting Unyielding Hierophant, and probably another few hundred orbiting High Charity, the Covenant is massive.

I don't see Cole having any skills that would change the situation at Reach.

The # of ships was retconned from 300 to 700 in the new reissue of The Fall of Reach.

Anyway, to the other guy I responded too: also consider all of the various ships out there looking for artifacts, the High Charity defense fleet, the different bases and so on. I HIGHLY doubt the entire Covenant military was at Reach. In fact, I've never heard anyone make that suggestion until now.

I don't see how anybody could take that for truth and i am sure that was stated as a typo.

Reach only had 20 SMACs and roughly 100 ships. If it takes nearly 3 ships to take out one covenant ship, it makes sense for the covenant to have 300 ships at reach (3 to 1).

If the covenant had 700 ships there wouldn't have been a battle at reach whatsoever.

Please don't respond with childish thoughts, That wouldn't work at all.

so hold on a second, a nuclear mine dropped from a Prowler works that is like what 50 megaton thermonuclear warhead at best..? there is an absolutely massive amount of energy transferred if you were to take your ~500 metres long frigate, floor the engines and crash headlong into a Covenant ship, plus I don't think shields protect you from being hit by something that is lets say has a mass of a million metric tons (not too hard to believe at all.) moving at one thousands metres/second, that is rather large sum of energy.

plus there is another kamikaze tactic that could work, using frigates and their slipspace drives to destroy really large Covenant warships, drive along side, really close, active your slipspace drive and chances are your taking some of the other ship with you! as much as I love the Halo Universe and how rich it is, it does have some catastrophic holes in it, especially when it comes to things like this and other technology debates.
