wats up everyone well heres the thin when i turn VSYNC off i get a weird problem when i turn left and right when in a game i see the walls rendering up but tonight ive figured out that if i turn it on it doesnt do that i think its my moniter fault cause right now i cant go past 60 FPS i have the 6800GS and id like to get more out of it so can anyone help me i think its my moniter? maybe thanx for the info

Vsync insures that your framerate(frames per sec(FPS)) does not exceed the refresh rate of your monitor. You have a 6800 and probably a good processor so your FPS is probably up over 60. This results in "tearing" because the monitor can't "draw" each frame faster then the video card is sending it. The solution is to set your framerate to Vsync On or 30 FPS; or get a better monitor with a refresh rate of 75 or 90 Mhz.

yeah and this really sucks cause not every game give u the option to turn off vsynsc i have to play battlefield 2 when it looks like this really sucks!

k so i tried another moniter and it did the same thing so am i getting horizontal tearing? i think so

the monitor itself won't realy matter, unless it is old and crappy. you need to actualy set your monitor's refresh rate to something higher.
right click on your destop and click properties. go to the settings tab, and click the button that says advanced.
in the new window that opens, go to the monitor tab. there is a drop down menu that allows you to change your refresh rate. make sure to check the box that says "hide modes that this monitor can't display," and change the refresh rate to something higher. also, what is your refresh rate (it's near the vsync/novsync control) when you are in that game?

change the refresh rate in halo to as high as it can get.
