I sold Reach a long time ago (a week or two after its release, I think), and I didn't regret it. The game made me so angry with Bungie, that I sold Halo 3: ODST along with it. Reach's campaign was the worst out of all the Halo games. I didn't give a damn about the stupid characters (Kat's death was so stupid and hilarious). It also seems like the map designer(s)/level designer(s)(or whoever made the maps/levels) changed or just gave up because the maps for both multiplayer and single player were weak. The armor abilities ruined the matchmaking, and custom games didn't feel nearly as fun with limited options compared to Halo 3. Forgeworld was pretty lame, too. I'll just stop rambling now and get to the point.
I bought Halo 3: ODST and Halo 3 again, and I am far from disappointed in my repurchases. I played the multiplayer the entire weekend and was unable to stop. I feel it is far superior. The campaign was decent enough, and the multiplayer is amazing (as it has been since 2007). Of course, you get the occasional cheap -blam!-s and horrid host connections, but it is worth enduring rather than playing a boring, lacking match of Halo: Reach's multiplayer. I wish Bungie, or whoever, would pay attention to this game a little and stop acting like it was made 20 decades ago. I understand Reach is a priority, but Halo 3 is still pretty damn popular, so a minor playlist update/change once in a while, or maybe even a small patch for some multiplayer issues would be nice...
