So basically I will be listing some massive mistakes the Reach made that scared me and all my friends away.

1. Armour Abilities
Maybe for customs and forge, but they took so much skill away from the game I cant even explain it, I'm aware Bungie that they were too hard to fix, and you cant just take them out, because you spent so much time on them, but 343i, make sure you do NOT put them in.

2. DMR/BR
Ok, I do prefer the BR... Alot more, but I want to too annoyed if it isnt in H4, just make sure you do not make the main mid-ranged weapon be so successful at long distance as the DMR, this lead to mass kill stealing and gang-banging

Sure, teamwork is fine, but you dont even need to intentionaly stick together, you can just shoot people from across the map that are weak, and teammates will often steal yoúr kills from places because they had such good range. You couldnt have this fun 1v1 BR duals anymore either, which I missed.

3. Maps

Ok, this is a huge one, DO NOT TAKE MAPS FROM THE CAMPAIGN! I know you have your bull-blam!- excuses Bungie, but this really did make the game feel half-assed, there were no new areas to explore and the lack of symmetrical maps left matchmaking often unbalanced, this is a big one, dont make this mistake.

4. Competitive crowd

I am definatly aware we are the minority, but that doesnt give you's the right to leave us in the dirt, H3 had social, and ranked, so if you dont like ranked, you PLAY SOCIAL! so why take ranked out and force us to play social? (Arena is a joke, competitive people want bragging rights, if you loose your bragging rights every month, no one will even bother).

5. Colours

I know most people think if they love black and darkness that they are hard, but seriously its just depressing to play in (Halo: Reach?) Halo: CE and green valleys and blue skies and planets in the backround, Halo: Reach had clouds and thunderstorms.

6. Theatre

I want to show my friends my stuff while I watch, I kinda missed this in Reach, I was pretty annoyed when they took it out, my friends are too damn lazy do download and then view my stuff, and watching with them is just more fun anyway.

Feel free to add some DONTS to my list, if I agree I will put them up.

I don't blame you. The reason I said that is because I made a thread saying what I want for Halo 4 and one guy said that it wasn't supposed to be posted here because it's not a Bungie game, even though it hasn't been announced yet.

the lack of symmetrical maps left matchmaking often unbalanced
Zealot called.

Also, my problem isn't with asymetry, but with sheer size. Zealot is somewhat large, by my standards(your not in a constant firefight, multilevel) but you could fit nearly A DOZEN into Hemmorhage. Most of Hemmorhage was just open space. And it had two snipers on it.

You see the problem -_-

If 343i remakes Halo: CE and they remake The Library, they better have Sprint in it so I can move past that -blam!- level as fast as I can.

2. DMR/BR
Ok, I do prefer the BR... Alot more, but I want to too annoyed if it isnt in H4, just make sure you do not make the main mid-ranged weapon be so successful at long distance as the DMR, this lead to mass kill stealing and gang-banging

Bungie said they made the maps first, then put them into the Campaign.

NFL teams don't usually retain the Superbowl champ title after they win the Superbowl, and yet American football is still competetive. Don't get me wrong, ranking systems are fine, but you should have to work to keep your rank. Getting a 50 obviously wasn't brag worthy enough for the folks who plauged Halo 3 with numerous accounts that -blam!- with the ranking system.
5. Colours

I know most people think if they love black and darkness that they are hard, but seriously its just depressing to play in (Halo: Reach?) Halo: CE and green valleys and blue skies and planets in the backround, Halo: Reach had clouds and thunderstorms.

Nothing jolly about a planet dying.

Cool, enjoy sittign at a black screen for 4 hours.

You made some good points, The blank screen was very annoying, but we put up with it more often than not. You could do it in another game, I will not mention on this furoms, without a problem.

And I know the planets dieing, but they can still have us dieing without giving us that dark vibe. There was nothing jolly about a ring that annihilates galaxies, but I sure felt jolly when I was on it.

And NFL teams go down in history when they will the surebowl, my silver medal doesnt.. and as for boosters, WHO CARES? I tried legitimately and so did you (I hope) dont worry about others. Bungie has a million and one bans for them anyway.

Are you serious about the Reach having blue skies? Play through Reach with blue skies the entire game and tell me that you don't want moody skies.

Not to mention, a glassing beam upsets the particles in the air sending them scattering. That can screw up entire ecosystems.

I dont get people, WHY do you want to be depressed? The music and the fact everything was dieing did a good enough job for me.

HALO COMBATE EVOLVED

reaches stuff was depressing and UH DUH
that was the point idiot the whole game was about the FALL OF REACH

Because people want to feel what it's like to be in that particular spot and location!

Video Games are all about atmosphere!

Also, the Halo series on its own is just down-right depressing. The Halo books are the best proof of why Halo is sad and depressing. whenever I read them they always makes me sad because the writers do such a great job on producing what it's like to be in the Halo Universe.

Also, read the "Effects" section of this article.

I know I wanted to feel a sense of loss because Eric Nylund's -blam!- writing didn't do a good enough job of portraying Reach's fall in his crappy Fall of Reach book.

Hmm, Cliffhanger, Atom, Asylum. And the majority of others were just too damn big to be symetrical. Or designed for gametypes that relyed on asymetry (Spire, Boneyard).

Good enough?

Really? I was shocked when in the first salvo of the attack, nearly the entire Home Fleet was destroyed. Same with the part where around 20 Spartan II's die because of something they couldn't fight.

Totally. A book title says The Fall of Reach, I expect a book that talks about the fall of Reach, not a book that remembers at about the last 30 pages, "Hey, I should really talk about Reach falling!" only to create a half-assed ending.

  • 04.02.2011 9:46 PM PDT

The only map that has any real balancing issues in my playing experience is Sword Base.

Armor Abilities are completely fine and add a high level of skill to the game.

The competitive demographic of the community were not screwed over or left behind in any way whatsoever. You were given Arena, which is ranked, if you don't like it, well I would say too bad.

I just don't understand how the Super Carrier could slip past our defenses.

I also don't like how there was a covenant ground force for nearly half a month, and then they decide, "Hey let's destroy Reach now!"

It would have been a lot more dramatic if the main fleet came in earlier.

The Super MACs are pointed towards one side of Reach in a formation. The Spires were probably launched from an asteroid belt, as shown in the game's opening, came to Reach, produced a cloak, and it came right in.

Yeah, except that wouldn't we notice the spires inbound?

IDK, I just don't like how there is the Super Carrier there for half a month before they call for reinforcements.
