Guys we need to see if Bungie might take "Dead Ahead" into consideration....
That would be awsome.. If you are up for that idea... Send me a mail.
Then we will all see if Frankie can mention it to someone.
It's a long shot... maybe it can work?

I like my Covenant like i like my woman, screamin and with a sticky on there face.

i would like the big maps and stuff but i like the close quarters maps like hang em hightunnels and stuff where you would walk around a corner and be surprised(by my shotgun hence the name shotgun master) plus you can always see someone and it is constant action any way my level would be hang em high with twice as many tunnels but paths along the side of the wall with windows for a perfect sniper spot.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

..and by "coolest, most original" you mean "thiefiest, most stolen?" OK, OK, it IS a great idea, but it's not Hulud's idea. Ever ridden a Centrifuge? Ever read "Rama" by Arthur C. Clarke? Or ever played a little game called "Halo?" These (as well as a number of other scientific novels) all use this idea in their own way. Good job Hulud on taking a great concept and applying it to Halo, but let's give credit only where it's deserved. Now, why don't we copy mother nature and make a level on the outside of a sphere (or cylinder)? I think that would be pretty cool, as well (kind of like a miniature planetoid). You could coordinate attacks on someone from all 360 degrees. Fun, fun.

SuperFilious, I understand what you say. I'm aware that other people have developed this "inside of the sphere" concept, but I've never seen it applied, or even thought to be applied, to a game. Now, I would've given credit, had I known who to give it to (I've never read anything on this, I just knew that its not completely my idea). Its hard for anyone to ever be completely original anymore (I wasn't trying to be)...

All that aside, just think how chaoticly fun a map like that would be...

a large level with 2 bases on each end, cliffs on the side, a river through the middle, and a large jungle between the 2 bases.
the jungle would have short routes that would be open to snipers on the cliffs and long routes with plenty of cover. there could also be laders to the top of trees where you could reach power-ups and health.
the cliffs could be excellent sniping positions but would have to be very thin so a warthog or other vehicle could not charge over them.
the river could be a great chokepoint to intercept flag carriers, but would have to be semi coveered. there would have to be some incentive to take bridges over it instead of runt through... maybe it could drastically slow you down.

my level would be a large city with tall buildings which you would be able to get on top of if you used the elevator or use a banshee.on top of the buildings would be turrets and inside the building you would be able to sniper through the windows.on the streets would be overturned cars, trucks, and even tanks. there would also be towers with turrets inside. the flags of each team would be in the tallest building.there would also be a river in between each team wich could be crossed by a bridge .the bridge would have two turrets on each side.there would also be tunnels that lead to the other teams buildings. the buildings would also have basemets where the tunnels would be located.

mine would be a HUGE field and at each end there are castleish buildings, and a destrucatable bridge 300 ft in the air. Just think of that landing on your enemies entire squad. And like a new type of game played on it where 32 people can play.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Here's a few more:

1.) A really weird Forerunner Facility. In this, there would be a number of intersecting cylindrical pathways, 7 (hehe) of which lead to a very powerful gravitational machine at the centeral room. The other pathways connect the 7 in a spider-web like manner (but they don't spiral in towards the center). Not too weird, you say? Just listen. The 7 pathways falsely loop back and connect themselves. (by this, I mean that they don't loop around... I'll explain: If you started at the central room, and there was no machine in the central room, and you were to choose one of the seven pathways and keep walking along it, you'd eventually end up back in the central room, even though you didn't turn around. You could walk infinitely in one direction, but not go anywhere new). In theory, you could sniper yourself from behind (but the machine at the center of the map prevents this... Aside from this weirdness, here's another thing: The gravitational machine emits gravitational pulses in random directions (but the directions have to be towards one of the 7 main tubes) at random times (but the time between two pulses cannot exceed two minutes). These gravitational pulses are extremely powerful, but only affect the players caught in a pulse by "freezing" them ... They will also cause any weapons fire that intercept the field range of the pulse to be immediately directed in the direction of the pulse. These pulses will last for several seconds, and do not affect anyone outside of the tube that the random pulse was shot at, allowing for many new ways to kill someone. For example: Someone is caught in a pulse, but you are not. You throw a plasma grenade into the pulse, and the grenade is automatically forced onto the player that was caught in it by the generated gravity. Also, since weapons fire is also affected, you can shoot anything into a pulse (IE sniper rifle, rocket launcher), and hit whoever is caught in it (unless they are not exactly in the center of the tubes, since they will be large enough to make a possibility of the gravity-affected fire to miss the player you indirectly shoot at). It may be hard to understand this in writing... for that, I apologize.

2.) The inside of a Covenant ship.

3.) A gravity-less arena. To manuver, you simply face the direction you want to go, and push off a wall (you have to be near a wall) by pressing the jump button. This would turn plasma grenades into even more deadly weapons, since they go straight, and would lessen the effectiveness of frags (but, if you become good enough, the frag grenade's potential can be unleashed in new ways, creative ways). And it WILL be possible to become stuck away from walls (you jump off a wall, but if you shoot enough, or are affected by some explosive, you may decelerate and become stuck, and will be unable to move until you respawn (you will respawn next to walls). This would be very hard to get used to, but would be very fun for some who like the concept, if done right.

What do you think?

Mine would be a Blood Gulch style map except with at least 4 times as long, and it would be shaped like "+" with a base for each of the four teams at each end of the plus, in the middle would be a base with a big tower and in this tower would be the only place where the sniper, rocker launcher, and 4 jeeps, 2 atvs, and 1 tanks would spawn, so control of the middle would be key. A jeep would also spawn at each base, so even if they didn't get one from the middle they could still drive something. The weather would change from day to night, and it would sometimes rain, causing visiblity to decrease, there would be no "undergroud tunnels" but with cliff running along the side like in bloo gulch, each side would have a river running right in front of their base, with 3 bridges crossing each one, 2 of which could be opened or closed from a lever inside the base.

AN UPDATE TO MY MAP.

to make the map not take half an hour i would make teleportes that only go down.but u would still be able to use the elevators.the elevators would be large enough to fit a tank, so use could set it on the roof if your turrets get destroyed.the tunnels would be able to fit a ghost or atv for real get aways.each team would get 3 tanks 4 warthogs 3 ghosts 3 atvs and 3 banshees.the level would have all the guns.some easy 2 find and others hiden.

I would make a large map with a city in the center of it and on the north and south sides of the map. There would be a small island that the city connects to via large 4 lane bridges each bridge would have turrets and roadblocks on them as well as a small tunnel under the bridge. Each island would be equipped with two garages that would hold vehicles and a large base complex with interconnecting tunnels to link to the garages and ramps that allow smaller vehicle to be parked on the roofs, there would also be turrets on the roofs and one in front of each entrance to the base. In the center of this base and in the basement would be the flag. The city would look war torn with slight craters in the streets, cars parked in the middle of the road, and a few broken windows. I would call it “war city”

Each garage would have 3 banshees on the roof (if there is a human fighter 3 of those as well) a phantom and a pelican. They would also have 3 ghosts and 3 warthogs, 2 scorpions, 2 covey mortar tanks (I have heard they will also have a ‘true’ tank so 2 of those) and any thing else we don’t know about.

In a small sub room of the garage would be an armory where all weapons are stored allowing you to deck yourself out they way you want from the get go.

it is showing that you too much work. What happened to a parking lot?

sorry, i just realilized how bad that sounded let me rephrase...
you have a lot of vehicles, more than eight, y have more than one of ea. tank? 1 tank can carry five, and then you would have a wart hog, banshee, and ghost(maby phantom too)

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

I'm all for weird maps (obviously.... read my "Inner-Sphere" and "Gravitron" map concepts), so here's another one (which isn't mine):

A recreation of the Unyielding Hierophant, but a little smaller.... that'd be cool.

Well first, I would make a map that was kind of like the PoA but instead (if Halo2 supports 32 players) there would be like only 8 defenders and the rest would be enemies that would instantly respawn at a designated starting point (the boarding ship) and the defenders would try to hold em off (turrets, extra weapons, traps, over the top shields). If the enemy gets a certain number of their people inside a certain compound marked by a line or something, the defenders would have to retreat to a second bastion of defense. This would work kind of like a castle siege (well theres the name) and as the enemy kept advancing and bypassing certain checkpoints, the defenders would have to fall back (a la Lord of the Rings: TT) and then defend from there. And you could also do this map on open terrain and have AA guns and turrets on top of a wall. The defenders wouldnt get any vehicles, but they would get lots of turrets (but not too much) and extra supplies. Also, the offenders would have like a huge mortar cannon (like the one the Cov have) and maybe some tanks or troop transport warthogs. The way the offenders would win is by getting to a central keep or bypassing certain lines (victory conditions ARE customizable). The way the defenders would win is by surviving a certain amount of time or getting kills (that way the offense would have to strategize more).

Please tell me if you like this map concept!! I thought it was cool.

EDIT: The names could be Castle Base, Castle Guard, Castle Siege or something creative cause right now im tired!!!
