I'd love to see two space platforms high atop a gas giant with the gravity turned entirely almost entirely off. Too far away to easily scope with the sniper rifles. On each platform there would be multiple births for banshees and whatever light aerial assault craft make it to Halo 2.

Between the two platforms a large number of asteroids of different sizes and shapes. Preferably slowling floating about dynamically, completely random. Remember, with the low gravity you could even jump from asteroid to asteroid. It would definitely be a skill.

On some of these asteroids would be receivers for the teleporters on either platform and most of the time it would take you to the asteroid you think it will. A little randomness would be nice but you could always go in the direction you wanted, either towards your enemy or back to your base. Additionaly there would be weapons and sometimes turret weapons on the asteroids.

The inside of a sphere. Completely "flat" (by that, I mean no objects for cover). You'd be albe to see enemies walking on the other "sides" above or around you, and if you jump or get blasted high enough, you'd pass through gravity zones and effectively land on the opposite side. Just think a small Halo, but spherical.

wow. thats the coolest, most original idea ive ever heard. Kudos to you.

..and by "coolest, most original" you mean "thiefiest, most stolen?" OK, OK, it IS a great idea, but it's not Hulud's idea. Ever ridden a Centrifuge? Ever read "Rama" by Arthur C. Clarke? Or ever played a little game called "Halo?" These (as well as a number of other scientific novels) all use this idea in their own way. Good job Hulud on taking a great concept and applying it to Halo, but let's give credit only where it's deserved. Now, why don't we copy mother nature and make a level on the outside of a sphere (or cylinder)? I think that would be pretty cool, as well (kind of like a miniature planetoid). You could coordinate attacks on someone from all 360 degrees. Fun, fun.

I think an awesome level would be the inside of a huge hollow building, either cylindrical or rectangular. It would have walkways on all sides (either spiraled around the perimeter or having staircases, ramps, and ladders between floors), and a few bridges running across the center (think Zion from the Matrix trilogy). Flying vehicles could be optional, and the bases would be across from eachother on the same middle floor. This would give you several options to attack a base (above, below, head on), kind of like boarding action with out a gulf of space between the ships. A floor at the bottom of the building would be a nice no-man's land and a roof that players could walk out onto would be a seperation from the main room for sneak-attacks. Add a few window-washer ramps on the outside of the building for flavor and "Voila!" instant level.

I hate to do this, but if I wanted someone to steal it, it would be bungie...
My map would be called..

Coliseum: Training Ground for Snipers. It would be twice the size of Derilect, at least.

Game mode would be capture the flag: One flag placed in the center of the arena.

Up to four teams.

Your team would spawn inside the arena, but just outside the fighting zone, which would be marked off by a set of steps that lead into the circular battlefield. There is an invisible wall just outside the steps, so when you spawn, or are waiting to run for the flag, you are in safe mode. You know that you are safe from taking fire, since you have not stepped into the "fighting zone": The steps mark the invisible wall. But this doesn't mean you are completely safe. More on that later.

Four players to a team, or possibly more. Each player has two weapons.. Their right and left hands. You also have the ability to sprint towards the flag.

One member of each team is assigned the SNIPER position. This player would be determined before hand. He/She has the ability to shoot into the battle zone, killing enemies and flag runners. But he CANNOT shoot through to the other side. The sniper round can "enter" the invisible wall (marked by steps leading into the battlefield), but the projectile can only travel through the invisible wall once.

If the sniper chooses so, he may step inside the arena (down the steps) and and shoot inside the battlefield, giving him/her the abitlity to take out other snipers in the safe zone, since his round would only be traveling through the invisible wall just one time. But he is also in danger of being sniped himself as soon as he/she steps inside the battlefield.

Respawns have yet to be determined, but I feel that the snipers should have the longest respawn times. Don't get sniped. Be aware. Make good decisions.

Snipers have the ability to choose from two separate rounds.
One, is the normal projectile, capable of shooting through multiple enimies, and even your own teamates. That's good and bad. Depending on your snipers ability to make the right choices, considering there will be multiple enemies fighting over the flag: he could team kill often, Or he could take out multiple enemies with one round.

The other round, would be a frangible, which would shatter as it enters the enemies body. This projectile would NOT be able to travel through a players body. This is better for the beginner sniper who may not know when it's best to pull the trigger.

A Huge desert like area, with the whole battle taking place in a large crater (like 3 miles in radius), with a big canyon running right through the middle. An only a few rope bridges run from one side to the other, so vehicles have to jump it. and around the edge of the crater, there would be the ruins of a UNSC ship, and if you went inside the massive skeleton of the ship, you would find caves that lead under ground into a huge cave complex with different levels, and if you follow the caves to the canyon, theres all of the different levels that jut out over and below eachother. And while the fire of plasma light up the canyon for the people on the surface to see, vehicles that were blown out of the sky, or didnt make the jump fall down into the abyss of the canyon. And it would be a rainy day, or a sunset/sunrise type of mood. Lots of vehicles, all types, and tons of ammo...somewhere.

Ok, this would make a great campaign mode level

If i could make my own level.. I would make one with massive undergound bases, which houses vehicles and weapons. And then there would be a massive object in the middle with multiple levels and has lots of nooks and crannies to hide in. and maybe some secret doors or something

What I think would make a great multiplayer level would be something like the inside of the truth and reconsilliation. Maybe not the whole ship, you could have some of the doors locked, but a good majority of it. This would be great for long drawn out slayer matches or oddball games, because it has plenty of space for people to hide and plenty of open space for fighting too. You could have some covenant vehicles, but it wouldn't be right to have human vehicles on that level. Theres plenty of sniper places if you're on the higher levels, and a couple big rooms for all out war. You could have one flag on the top level and on flag at the bottom, the oversheilds are only in the bottom and middle, not the top. That way people don't jump all the way to the bottom and not die.

1. The first one I've posted several times already and will skip it.

2. The second one takes place on one of te admerial ships, there are many paths in the level and coridors. Many of the area's you run into is the Cafeteria, Locker room, Armory, Vehicle store (no useable vehicles btw). There will be many paths as I've mentioned, in capture the flag there are two specific large rooms of the flags each team carries. You'll also run into a damaged room that contains lower gravity (thus, a lot of debree is flying around), various craw spances (shafts from which you can quickly get from one area to the other side).

3. An small city style map, with tons of the city in ruin (not like completely destroyed buildings, like sections of the buildings are gone and you are allowed to enter the buildings from like holes in the walls and ceilings). Most buildings (if not all) can be entered and the level supports all vehicles. This idea came from someone's idea on how a multiplayer level will be in Halo 2 (they drew it too, it was rather cool looking).

a world war oneish map.
-think about it heavy rain, swampy trenches, battle rifles and grenades being shot and thrown. a no-mans land of corpses and blown out trees one tank for each team but you have to get to it, its behind a door on one side and the switch to open the door is on the other side of it, the teleporter to get behind the door is in no-mans land. just imagine the totall carnage ensuing as people rush into no-mans land to get to the teleporter and the tank.
-a perfect capture the flag, the flag is located in the small base bunker on each side

There are going to be huge new sky scrappers in Halo 2! So I would build one in a sky scrapper with a few working elevators and multiple stair ways with a lot of places to hide! Cubicles that start all nice and organized, and by the time the match was over, everything could be blow to crap. Glass everywhere. Kind of like a die hard showdown with all your friends.

I would also make one in an airport! I don't know if you can do that after 911, but I think it would be cool! Make it with working trams, and conveyor belts! And all kind of odd vehicles to drive on the runways!

I would make a lot more indoor levels, like a giant stadium! I have always imagined running around in the rafters of these giant buildings, and hiding in the concession stands. I and the 100+ bathrooms they have in those buildings. I think it would be fun. Because there would be a lot of places to hide!

Dude, this sounds terrorist, but I think it would be cool!

And I would make a Marathon arena remake! That would be sweet! The one with the lava in the middle and the elevators that would shoot you up. That was a sweet map!

I would make a golf course map...ok hear me out. You would only have two holes that are surrounded by mountains. On each green would be the flags for CTF and up in the walls of the mountains would be sniping positions. The bunkers would be cover or just places for crazy Warthog jumps. The two holes would be next to each other... so it would be the width of two holes and each green would be on opposite ends.

  • 05.09.2004 8:23 PM PDT

bah

OK, you want a map, I'll give you a map! Blood Gulch setup, except 10 times longer and twice as wide. That makes it a good 5 kilometers long and less than a half kilometer wide. The whole map twists and turns every 500 meters or so, making super long distance sniping not an option. (As if anyone can snipe well at 500 meters anyway!)
In the middle of the map, it gets wider and the whole area is slightly raised. Here's where the main bettle takes place. The middle area is full of pits and small terraces, with maybe a few small buildings here and there, along with a few gun batteries at the base of the hill on each side along with ammo and good guns.
At each end of the map, a very structured base, conmplete with its own defensive turrets about 500 meters away. The turrets would be situated at the first bend, so they could shoot at people coming from around the bend. Any enemies coming down the canyon would hve to travel a whole kilometer of canyon floor while being shot. This means only massive groups can survive, no small infiltration units allowed.
The bases themselves would be the most insane place to get weapons, with dozens of vehicle spawn points. Also, they would have teleporters leading to a point just before the second bend, allowing people to skip a kilometer of walking. Located at this point would be all the transport vehicles with heavy shielding. People would drive the transports into combat, drop off people, then return to pick up more.
The bases themselves would be heavily armored, and the objective of the game would be to destroy the opposing team's base. The bases would have layers of armor ont hem, and it can be blasted away in some ares. The opposing team would have to blast away the armor, infiltrate the base, plant a bomb and detonate it near the genaerators. Once this happens, they loose.
This gametype would kick ass because the whole game would be an almost neverending battle. Every once in a while, a team would make it through the defenses and damage the base just a bit more. Once the base is damaged to a certain point, getting in would be easy since there would be multiple points of intrusion. I could imagine these games lasting days.

Sounds like fun Kjdubz! Have you ever driven on a golf course? It is so much fun! My cousin has a jeep, about as close as you can get to a warthog, and the hills were hot. We were flying all over the place! So yeah golf course would be fun!

I would like to see a big city like the one shown in the E3 demo....(but in multiplayer of course).....and there should be up to four different teams, and they all can have an evenly selected number of marines on each team.....you scout out the city and all the buildings and kill the other teams......once you die or all the the marines on your team die, then your team will have lost.......

if there are 4 teams, and 2 lose/drop out of the game, they can join one of the other two teams as an MC

Another idea of mine is a multiplayer map, that looks like the room in the Maw, when you drive the warthog all the way to the end and when you jump into the bomber and fly away..... it is a big room with two sides, and many levels on each side with turrets.....you have to run to the middle of the room and take the flag back to your base...... all the teams are fighting over 1 flag, to get it back to their base..... it would only be fun with a lot of players, 4 at the least, but I think it would be cool......

A HUGE WAR TORN CITY WHERE THERE ARE BLASTED OUT BUILDINGS THAT U CAN SNIPER FROM THE WINDOWS. THERE WOULD BE TANKS AND WARTHOGS LYING AROUND TO JUMP INTO AND BURN AROUND IN. THE CANNON FROM THE E3 DEMO WOYULD BE COOL SO YOU COULD CAUSE SOME SERIOUS COLLATERAL DAMAGE. IT WOULD BE A TEAM GAME.
