I personally think that a lot of the single player maps from Halo 1 would make excellent multiplayer maps. More rather, sections of it. The section in Halo 1 where the escape pod crash lands on Halo and the open landscape you see growing out before gave me the chills the first time I saw it. If you could just chip away that section and add trees instead of a ravine between the two sides (with of course bases on each side) it would be excellent. As others have said, the return of classics from the original Halo such as Blood Gulch and Sidewinder with improved scenery and slightly altered landscapes would be great as well.

Id say like snowing in the woods with lots of trees and hills with water and veicles and like undeground pasage way and have an air base in the hills were only the bancheeese can get 2 were thers lots of guns and more bancheese and sheilds and each team have ther own base with turrents........that whould be awesome i think every 1 whould love it (i hope)

I dont like that You have to use a RETALE map editor to use the editing ket.. But in games like unreal tornamnet 2004 and Rune and a few others they give you a map editor .. but alase I will mack A map or 2 with in the 30 day trial for My clan and submit it to Levils 4 you

Also like the level (HALO) a multiplayer board should be that big, ecspecially if there are going to be Banshees in Halo 2. It also needs areas for snipers, scouts, demolitions(grenades), and close combat specialist to work in. Just like the level (Halo) And have it not as long though.

I want a level like Omaha Beach. Like some machine guns and bunkers up on a beach with a small island where the attackers spawn. They have to drive up on warthogs or something (its not far from the beach, but far enough that the machine gun bunkers cant harm it). The warthogs drive up but have to dismantle because of obstacles on the beach. Then they run up the beach and try to attack the base!! Yay. OR there could be dropships or something that bring you and drop you in. Imagine being in the dropship as bullets come flying in, your men, and only a few escape to rush the base. Hell yeah! Oh and by the way, the beach wont be COMPLETELY devoid of things to hide behind. There are trenches and wire walls and stuff. Yippee.

Actually I've been thinking about this for quite some time (which is why I wish Halo would come with a map editor)

What happens is, each team gets a certain base. Red team gets a big base with a few turrets on it, vehicles (of course) and a big tower for snipers. Blue gets a really badly damaged base with a crashed dropship and a few life pods on the ground. Each team also gets a few marines to help them out. Now the map is really kinda small. It's always raining, which adds to the difficulty to see, and the Flood and Covenant are having a battle in the middle of the map. You can't whipe out the flood or covenant, they just keep respawning. There is a secret way though. Behind each player's base, its got some tunnels and under the tunnels, there is a big bridge. 2 banshees on each side, only because the bridge CAN be destroyed. That's the best way to get through if you don't want to fight the flood or covenant (though grunts are fun to fight)

Kinda a disadvantage to Blue, but still a heck of a fun map I have in mind (and I have many others planned)

It would be on earth in the city. It would be just a chunk of the city though. There would be two main buildings. They would be the bases. They would be like 4 or 5 stories high or high enough so when you fall off the top you die. On the top of the two main bases there would be the flag holder and a one way teleporter, like in sidewinder, that leads to another building. On those other buildings there would be a rocket launcher and any air vehicles, but there would be no way down from the other buildings except for a teleporter that brings you to the streets. On the bottom level of the two main bases would be like a parking garage with any ground vehicles. The level would have six streets. 3 vertical 3 horizontal. And on each end would be a main base.

I would make a golf course map...ok hear me out. You would only have two holes that are surrounded by mountains. On each green would be the flags for CTF and up in the walls of the mountains would be sniping positions. The bunkers would be cover or just places for crazy Warthog jumps. The two holes would be next to each other... so it would be the width of two holes and each green would be on opposite ends. And a little lake in the middle.


By the way each hole would be par 5's.

I would make it a massive level( Vice City size). One that would have a huge lake in it. Also, tons of trees and canyons and buildings and caves. Have 4 of every vehicle as well, or 8 :)

The map would be a grinder type map, where the enemy keeps coming and coming until you survive for a set amount of waves, which get harder with each wave passed. You and how ever many players are all on the same team. The map would be an urban landscape (saving private ryan style) and it would be dusk and raining. Spawn point would be one main building, tallest of them all at 5 or so stories. It would have all of the weapons, health, and one warthog. At the very top in a small tower would be enough room for one sniper (to relay directions). There also would be two mounted machine guns in the windows, and plenty of places to fire from. All around the building there would be good cover spots to set up an ambush. The covies would come after 3 min. so all of the guys who are gonna make a brief stand outside can get ready. After wave 10 or so heavier units like wraiths/hunters/gold elites will start to come. Just imagin this... You and 15 friends in the town, covenant troops coming in but the cant see you yet. Completely silent except for the whine of wraith and ghost engines. Then you give the signal and the 12 guys in the street fire rocket launchers, taking out a few wraiths and the warthog comes around, giving cover fire as they retreat. The 4 guys in the building cover them and everyone makes a last stand at the base as hundreds of covenant troops encircle "the alamo," which is what the map would be called. Suhweet...

Hoh yes. Trust me, I know Omaha beach like the back of my hand. Considering all the games I've played that level on, that would be massive. However, if you're going to have something with such a challenge, then it should be CTF. Slayer wouldn't be too fair, and if it was slayer then all the attackers would have to do is grab a sniper rifle and snipe the defenders trying to shoot out the bunkers *cough* n00bs at Day of Defeat *cough*

Another thing I would like to see in the Multiplayer for Halo 2 is somewhat of cause and effect. For example, if you destroy a certain interactive part of the enviroment, or knock down a certain tree, then it would rain, or the fog picks up. Randomness would of course add flavor to the match. Always a thought.

Just think a small Halo, but spherical. Just think: You see an overshield, and there is an enemy walking on the other side above you. You want to get to him, so, you get a rocket launcher, pick up the shield and rocket jump to the other side.... and while "rising/falling," you shoot your second rocket at the guy you want to kill.

I would have a level based inside a huge valley. damming one end is a sheer cliff filled with holes which are the mouths of a honeycombe of tunnels filling the rock, these tunnels would internally house caverns where the defensive team may spawn and collocet their weapons, these weapons would be long range weapons I.E. sniper rifle; battle rifles; rocket launchers pistols etc. the mouths of these tunnels are very high up und have turrets protuding from them, with a view of all of the valley floor.
the offensive team would start in a ditch at the other end of the VERY long valley with absolute cover from the defenders, the valley floor would have large amounts of cover with a network of trenches with limited cover for crouched players and items that allow them to leap onto the surface. downed vehicles could be used as make-shift turrets, to provide cover for the vast amounts of players pouring over the trenches and ditches of the valley floor, covering eachother and supressing sniper fire coming through the fog in the distance, and as more fall more leap onto the waterlogged steamy mores of the valley and race towards the enemy hoping that the next round from an unknown assassin does not meet them.
also if a cirtain part of the rock face is hit with sufficient firepower then i think that part of the cliff should collapse causing snipers to plummet to the ground with a somewhat satisfying crunch.
yes this is influenced by the omaha beach landing, only HALO style

Yeah, I really hope the Bungie team looks this post over after their e3 extravaganza. There are a lot of great ideas posted which just get me day dreaming about how cool they would be. Stosh, do you talk to the bungie guys at all? I am curious if they read these posts at all and if they take anything from them.

I think the jungle idea wouldn't play out well with Halo. But I love the idea of a CTF medieval style assault game, where there is that castle with turrents and stuff vs the ground troops with vehicles.

But I really wish bungie would do a Lord of the Rings inspired multiplayer map. Just think about Helm's Deep or a smaller Pellenor Fields with the same premise as the CTF idea above. That would be amazing.

Or some other Movie inspired multiplayer maps. Saving Private Ryan would still be cool. Maybe Troy will have a good battleground. Braveheart....

a giant cereal bowl full of pieces of food that you can hide in. And every minute or so, a giant covie poors giant milk and giant cereal in slowly. After the giant bowl is full, it will eat the giant cereal and want giant refills. so it puts giant somemore... it keeps on doing this until it's totally full. then it goes into the giant bathroom to throw giant up. then it goes to a giant party, then the giant grocery store on the way back to buy more giant cereal. when it gets home, it'll continue to eat more. and more and more and more untill it turns fat, SO fat that it explodes and the brightly colored blood splatters all over the place... ummm... what was i talking about? and you're in the bowl... fighting... with guns... and stuff... cereal...

That is cool. But how about if you meshed that with something similar to hang em high, that way you have all those 'tombstones' to fight amongst when at close range, and you could snipe or spnk guys on the 'roof' as well as having to watch out for guys doing it to you. You'd almost have to form teams of at least two, one for close range and one for protection from the roof.
And when you get to one of the higher spots on the map, you'd be close enough to the gravity zones to be able to jump all the way across the map. Downside to that is you're in midair for everyone to use you as rocket launcher practice. Imagine that! Someone jumps and everyone else fires a rocket at him. BOOM!

Oh man, where do I strart. A gigantic map with 4 main bases for each team. The bases would be far enough away from each other that it would be imposible to see the other bases from your strong hold. The map would hold a large forest with smalll meadows filled with tall grass ,shrubs and folage everywere. It would be played during the night. Almost pitch dark.The bases would be lit up. You would need to rely on flashlights and your motion sensors. Besides the 4 main stong holds there would be smaller bases at different areas on the map.On each base including the smaller ones there would be a few mounted weapons with searchlights. A river would devide the map into a few parts. Large boulders would lend cover and add a nice look. There would be bridges(destructable) for crossing the rivers. Any vehicle you wish to use would be available. Craters would begin to strew the ground as the fighting continued and trees would fall. Bases could be almost entirly crumbled. Fallen trees would provide good cover.The map would hold many players.
