Take Blood Gulch, and make it a ravine, like in a forest. Alter the layout of the tunnels to be more labyrinthine and lead upward to sniping positions. Make the bases like the ones on Halo (the level) with all the beamage, and for vehicles, Scorpionsx2, Bansheesx4 and rocket warthogsx2. Now. THe "tower" on the side oppostie of the tunnels would be more accessible and have a teleporter and other access points, as well as grenades. Then stretch the level out so it's wider but shorter and almost a square with the red base in the upper left hand corner and the blue base in the lower right. Put a generator or some other kind of "choke point" (turrets etc) in the middle, and slant the ground from the bases up toward it. Keep the trees closer to the bases, or jus as far from the central point as possible, and then possibly add a couple ghosts just to take advantage of them. Yeah, I'd like that.

I just wanted to know all you guys' ideas for cool multiplayer maps...So if you could create your own multiplayer map...What would it be? After I see some peoples ideas I will post my own.

Umm... You can already do this with Halo PC

True, but not everyone has Halo PC.

Yes...and i ment making your own Halo 2 maps Ckrpoint1...

How about the inside of the Pillar Of Autumn, not the whole thing, but some of it. Perfect for Slayer or King of the Hill.

A good Capture the Flag level would be the moon. It could have 2-4 bases depending on the map size, numerous vehicles (also depending on map size); featuring a little less gravity, hills, craters, turrets and any other items allowing for complete and utter mayhem.

(I dunno if anyone has thought of this yet cause I havent yet read the whole thread, so sorry if I've stolen your idea)

Someone already suggested my Banshee map but I'll give my version.

Two oddly shaped islands with entrances on the backs with 3-4 turrets guarding each (each entrance facing out away from each other, similar to Death Island), only transportation between either side is a fleet of banshees, maybe put a small island in the middle for heavy weapons linked by teleporters. Death comes to any who try and cross the waters or maybe just make it bottomless.

My second map would be a giant donut shaped map with players running on the outside (or it could be inverted so it's just one big circular tube) with the same physics as the Sphere guys idea.

Or you could make the token D-Day beach assault. (although Zanzabarr looks to have filled those shoes) (I wonder if Zanzabarr is a nod to Metal Gear Solid? Where the first one took place I believe)

I think they should bring back some classic maps for halo2.
CHILL OUT
DAMNATION
PRISONER
HANG'EM HIGH

As for new maps, I think a snow map would be cool, where you can shoot at the top of snow peaks to bring down snow to the ground to distract your enemy, or giant snow balls.
Level designing is hard because you have to make it fair to both sides.

Alright, I'm not sure how many of you people have played Unreal Tourny 2004, but the levels on that game are far out. Anything along any of those basis's wouyld be pretty cool. Of course, Bungie has a lot more detail in their stuff so of course, Halo 2's level would rock in comparssion. I also agree with the Sphere idea, its totaly orgnial and would be extremely fun to play on. Maybe introduce a few more game types also?

A level where there are 2 bases, and they're both craters. The flags sit in the craters and there are hills and caves inbetween.

Ok,

Map with large body of water seperating 2 islands the size of blood gulch. The island has a strip of land on each side with strategic points to gaurd, rocket towers etc. . land route and sea route. AND Air route, w/ use of dropships if available. The islands are jungles with a large base atop of a hill. each team has 2 banchees, 1 dropship, 2 warthogs, 3 ghosts and a tank. all modes 16 people. *kiss* muah! Piece de les resistance...

it would be like one big ace city with buildings you can go into and u have to drive on the streets and snipe out the windows creating traps by having some pp across the street in other buildings and then the other on the other side, and just a lot of cool stuff in a town of buildings. yea that would be fun!

Picture semi-solid clouds, some of them sinking you under their surface and some only sucking up your knees. two flying castle-like bases with banshees and pelicans only. miss a cloud on a jump and you have a long time to say goodbye.

wgat i would have is a asuualt map. the spartans on the outside and the elites on the insied. the spartans will spawin in a building/bunker type thing and have acsess to vehicles. tthe elites spawn in a fortress and there are several entrances into it. such a huge gate and multiple back entrances. but the coolest part would be the ramp in front of the wall. the spartans can drive up it and over soar over the wall like in the the ending jump in the maw.

There would be secret places that could only be reached with teamwork. For example: getting on top of the area that makes the horse shoe in the multiplayer game of sidewinder. It takes a warthog and three people, yes, but once your friend sniper is up there he is hard to spot and it gives you a tremendous advantage. Secrets are always nice.

A square box canyon, similar to blood gluch. Two bases each on it's own plato. A thin bridge connecting them. A curved ramp that connects the platos to the valley floor, which is a dense jungle covered in an even denser fog (the fog would not cover the plato's only the jungle.) A downed pelican barely juts above the fog. The canyon walls house tunnels that lead to bunker like rock formations on the edge of the fog. The trees in the jungle provide refugee for the hunted and ambushes the unwary. The bridge is no cakewalk either. It's thin and threaterus nature is a field day for snipers. Banshess swoop down to punish the surivers, as ghosts and warthogs have at in the jungle.

Well that reads more like a story than a map but considering that i can't draw a picture a story seems to get the idea of the map across better. I aplogize in advance if the spelling is wrong but i hope I at least got the idea across.

i would make a BG type of map but instead of 2 bases have 4. and a sniper tower behind each one. i would set a ghost up inside the tower so if u need a quick escape then u just turn around hop in and fly out of the tower like a flare. also there would be turrets if ur playing teams have 2 or 3 guys covering the area so no makes it even close to the area itself. and have vehicles scattered everywhere so everyone can have 1

ok so my idea would be this...

picture a 'hang em high' type of map, but with an incredible amount of fog! So much fog that you wouldnt be able to see another guy unless you were almost on top of one another.

(for anyone that has played the second level in Halo, at the part where you activate the light bridge, use the warthog to get to the very bottom and you'll see what kind of fog I'm talkin about!)

I would make a giant space ship level with windows that you can break and fall out into space.

how about side winder, but about 4 times longer and 3 times wider, but there will be big snow formations that go from once sing to the othere (kind of in the middle like a bringe of ice), that can be shot with 3 or 4 rockets to callaps on an unexpecting banshee or pelican. and u have a pelican on each base, 2 banshees, i snow warthog, 1 regular warthog and all the other vehicles in relative proportions. and there are AI turrets lined up along the walls twards each of the base, so if a blue guy is on his way to the red base the red turrets automaticly shoot at him. and every once in a while there is a cave for those who want to snipe the on comming attackers. oh yeah and its not one big horse shoe, it winds ALOT.

earth based level.each team starts out at the end of a huge base.in the middle is a huge battle field area(jungle type).and at each end their is stairs that lead up to the top so u can snipe.for vehicles u have to bring them down an elevator at each side of the base. there would be a tunnel that leads from base to base and little sections that you can jump out from or jump in.

five rooms in a row, either two or three levels high. there would be two to three ways between each room. the two outside rooms would be for the flags in ctf. the middle would be the largest, a room full of pillars, some broken, some whole. the middle three rooms on the lowest level (the levels would be visible to eachother as in prisoner or such) would be filled with a fog or other visual imparement. combat there would be limited to close quarters because of visibility, but to fire would create light, letting everyone know your position. snipers could see disturbances in the fog if you ran too fast, leaving only the pillars for cover (think small, barely a foot wide pillars). the broken pillars would allow attackers to fight above the cloud, and falling would just hurt your shields enough to light you up. cool fog effects would rule (fog curling around bullets for example). my two cents.

another idea (just for kicks) perhaps for xbox live, a blood gulch like bowl, with a small strategicly placed river (make planning a little more important, as well as the benefits for ambushes). this bowl would be just as long, and about 1.5 times as wide. the difference would be your enterance. respawners would appear in pelicans, with one or two other players on their team. they would land on their side of the plains. the pelicans would bring "reinforcements" and supplies. Hills would provide cover. A mine-field, or heavy turret random turret (like the E3 demo) perhaps would liven the plain wars.

I would have a snow region of hills and trees with full body and some not, cool to have weather effect for fog of war effect, limited vision so the zoom feature cannot be used very well and it would be a crazy endless of kamikaze fighting or ninja style ! sneaky killings to other bases for the objective of stealing something or ctf, whatever that might be. but forest region with snow weather effects, of course roads for snow warthog and snow ATV!!!! ahah. i can see it just coming alive.

I would make a map with warthogs and many building around so you and your team could hold and base ans use the base for cover.

For anyone who remembers the rotating moon level on Duke Nukem 3D: Have two bases separated by a giant circular rotating platform, sort of like a giant record (LP) player. If you've played that level on Duke Nukem, you know that when you shoot rockets, at looks like they're curving away from you (toward the outside of the "record"), because you're traveling in a circle while the rocket continues on its original straight path. If you've never seen it it's something to behold.

Even better, have the "record" rotate in two different directions--clockwise near the center, counterclockwise on the outside--maybe put a small non-moving "island" in the middle with a powerup. Just imagine trying to snipe someone on a rotating platform, or trying to drive a warthog over it. If they can put a vertical rotating fan on Zanzibar, this can definitely go down.
