With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Here's a map thats somewhat inspired by the Unreal series (my Gravitron one is also somewhat based on the highly innovative map designs of U, UT, UC, and U2):

Two giant, odd Forerunner castle-like structures (7-10 levels in height (each level will be about 7-9 meters high), and 2/3 of a soccer field in length and width) that float in the atmosphere of a gas giant (to make it as "Halo" as possible), and with Earth-like gravity (due to gravitational "dampers" that lessen the gas giant's immense gravity by generating a field of Earth-like gravity around the map). These structures are spaced a great distance apart (I'd say at least 150 percent (200 percent max) of the length of Sidewinder, (if you unbent that map) would be the distance between the structures), and would have smaller floating mini-bases (only one level high for each of them, and maybe 50 meters square (not necessarily a square base, though)). Connecting all these floating, beautiful structures together is a network of light bridges. The castle-like structures would have greater volume towards the bases of them than towards the top, so there would be more light bridges extending out from the lowest level, and fewer as you go up. Apart from the top levels (which will only have one light bridge going straight across to the other bases' top level, with no "island" in between), most of the light bridges will not go straight across (some will go at an angle to the other base, or actually go away from the other base, connect to an "island," then another bridge would connect that to the other base), and also, most will have an island or islands in between them. Furthermore, due to gas giant "fog," sniping will be limited (if it wasn't limited, a sniper would be too much of a god in this map.... even though we'd like to be gods). From one base, you will not be able to see even halfway to the other base, an you will not be able to see the bottom level light bridges from the top level. There will be no rails on the light bridges, so you will be able to fall to your death.... you will inevitably be crushed by the gas giant's tremendous air pressure at lower altitudes. Vehicles will be available at the bottom levels (where the light bridges will be bigger in width) only. And last but not least, there will be ramps and to serve as a means to get from the bottom level of a base to the top, as well as elevators that will allow for creative play by frusterating the hell out of whoever wants to use it (when they get closer, hit the button and make it go up).

About the vehicles: Ghosts and Banshees (and possibly the ATV and Shadow) will be the best, most likely, since they are small, fast, and very manuverable. But since they have these advantages, an advantage will be added to the other vehicles (but not the Wraith, if driveable, since its mortar will work damn well anyway). Ballistic weapons fire will reflect off the light bridges with angles of reflection equal to the angles of incidence (and plasma weapons fire will simply hit and disappate). This allows for creative kills, like shooting a light bridge above you to possibly hit a person on another light bridge that is above you, but below the one your shell/bullets will hit. You may even get lucky enough to have multiple ricochets, which would look cool if you're using a sniper rifle or tank (since the bullet/shell trails will be visible).

What do you think?

A cool idea for a game type would be to fight against covenant (and flood if desired). You pick the map, and instead of the normal Spartan vs. Spartan, you and your buddies pit yourselves against your hated advisaries. In a normal slayer mode, you would get points for killing each kind of covenant (because an elite is a more formidable foe than a grunt), like 1 point for a grunt and ten for a hunter. You could have marine reenforcements, or go solo, they could be defensive or offensive.
In other types of games (CTF) you and the covenant would try and get each others flags, while the flood, & perhaps even sentinals, would just be there to raise a little hell and steal the flags (but would not have a base to return them to). Imagine busting into the covie base only to find out that some flood ran off with it, and then having to track him down before the covies get to him first.
You can customize the number of enemies you want, or what enemies you want. You can even choose the level of difficulty of your foes (Easy, Normal, Heroic, or Legendary). You and 15 others could challenge yourself against an unstoppable enemy force of unimaginable size and strength, or go amuse yourself by wipping out a hundred grunts in your warthog.

Multiplayer has always needed a level where you can fly banshees! There needs to be like a level where theres a big open plain on the bottom with barriers and a bunch of open air space to fight with banshees, and then sticking out cliffs from the sides for sniping that you have to fly the banshees up to to get to. The sticking out cliffs should have rockets and snipers on them so you can kill enemy banshees and snipe people on the ground. Also LOTS of vehicles!!!!!!!! In the middle of the plain on the gound floor, there should be an elevator leading to an underground place so people can escape sniper fire and get weapons.
OR
There should be a level where it's like a covinent vehicle factory. There's big conveyor belts running everywhere with vehicles on them, and like if your in a fight with someone and they back up into the conveyer, SQUISH! And you could steal the vehicles off of the conveyer. And if you get on the conveyer and ride to where it leads, it goes to a vehicle storgae place, where theres a LOT of vehicles to hide behind. Also, above all of the factory conveyers and all that there should be a catwalk above with an elevator leading to it, big enoguh to for a tank on, just to make things interesting. Plus you should be able to go outside.

Hulud, your map sounds awesome, especially if you could turn the light bridges off for a second, and kill whoever is on them at that moment.

please , i beg of you , let the cummunity create thier own maps. why let thier be "suggetsions"? what if thier is just a map that some 1 has in mind that would keep halo alive ? , the map editor should be easy to use , like the way bf1942 map editor is , just click and drag and thier it would be. halo 2 would be such a greater sucsess if it had a map editor look at the resale valu it gave other games

- this is for the pc of course (btw is halo2 relesing on the xbox and pc at the same time , no wher on ur site dose it state this.)

How about a level....HUGE open area with alot of medium sized things to hide behind. The player sets a time limit at the begginning to where every "3minutes" part of the floor behind each team collapses, forcing the teams closer to each other.eventually the floor stops collapsing when the map is maybe the size of one of the buildings in blood gulch with 4 barriers. That would bring out the true skill in the players.

Dude, thats a kick-ass addition to my map. I like how you think. I'm surprised I didn't think of it. Just shut one bridge off, next thing you know, a guy you're playing with screams, "SON OF A -blam!-!"

I've got another concept lined up, but I'm not quite done with it... its going to be a moving arena, and if you stop, you're dead... I'll give more details when I think of them.

B.W.O FTW

My Idea Of the ultimate multiplyer map would be a giant map that is like D-Day in WW2 and have a beach head attack with one team defending the beach and one team using pelicans as transports to drop off team member just like the beginning of the Silent Cartographer just a-Hundred times bigger.

Well ppl my idea would more be like the streets in the E3 demo trailer thing but not so big becuase u dont want anyone to run away from combat and hide like a wussy. AND make the buildings accesible with mahine guns built in or a Invasion of Normandy of sorts
And o yea, Commander its the Invasion of Normandy for the storming of the beaches in WW2. A H2 mission perhaps?? tht would be sweet, a bigger version of Silent Cortagrfer (cant SPELL!!!!!!!!!!, lol)

my 2 levels would be-
1) 8-16 players: Be an outdoor level similar to Halo in single player. With two bases for capture the flag. the base would be the bases that send those huge blue flares up into the sky, except you can climb way high on them for some good sniper action. the level would be a little bigger sidewinder, in the shape of a giant O. Various sniper towers throught the level and bunkers on the side of mountains to maintain control of the level which you have to fight for. I love to sniper. the level would support all vehicles. there will be tunnels to go through and a huge canyon in the middle of the level on one side. bridges you have to activate and tunnels underground would have to activate bridges too. also you could jump the canyon in certain locations. but you dont have to go over the canyon. the other side would be pure jungle with fallen trees and junk (like everybody else has descrived their jungle levels) but the jungle would be thick and you would have to mow (sp?) your way through with a tank or jeep or something big. various rubble and runined building throughout the map. hidden caves you can un-cover by blowing up the walls on accident. secret passages ways on the bases to get outside or in. all weapons supported too.

2) for my 2-8 players i would build a no-gravity level in a cube like the null-gravity room in the book ender's game. no gravity - which means you would have to jump off the walls and you would continue to sail too the other wall (no stoping in the middle) then would have to jump of the wall you just landed. continue movement. there would be 2 spawn locations - 1 on the bottom of the level and 1 on the top. one flag in the middle where you have to grab and bring it back to your base spawn. rememeber there is no gravity at all so there would be no such thing as up, down, north, south so it would cause confusion and junk. guns would spawn and drift wherever. you begin to understand the concept - if not pick up the book enders game.

hey anybody see the movie starship troopers? anybody think halo was based off that movie? just a thought.....

My perfect multiplayer level would be to have each team in a canoe, each paddling their way across the Halo Ring's Infinate ocean in a race to get to the end, only since the Ring is a circle there's no end, (hence Infinate), so there wouldn't be an end. You'd just paddle your canoe forever in a circle. But when you get to the top of the Ring, you can paddle your canoe upside down, or likewise paddle in a much more vertical direction. And you can shoot each other while your in your canoe. Oh, and the canoe is completely destructable too. Only its made out of cardboard, and it's slowly sinking.

Obiously you have not heard of the word sarcasm. Where I come from, we Earthlings like to use things called "jokes". But I suppose your a little on the slow side...
As it is, I would not be a 3D artist if I were that stupid =)

Blood Gulch

with a ring around the top of the mountains that you can snipe off or drop down on an enemy with the trusty old shotgun. Also thick foilage such as a jungle would be a necessity between bases and perhaps bunkers'd be cool.

I'd make a copy of Facility from goldeneye. But to make it big enough for 16 players I'd use the single player version of the map. I just think it would be fun to play in the Facility as master cheif.

I like the idea of CP characters, Cause then you could play the MP maps by yourself. Instead of wanting to play an all you can do is the single player game. And if you want to play a Quick game well.............the single player wont allow a QUICK game. That would be sweet.

ohh...and urban maps would rock, you could go though buildings and parks, and have sewers to wade through, streets to traverse in your warthog, or you could take a ghost up an elevator to the top of a big building and JUMP from building to building, you could reak havocc in you tank just goin' down mainstreet. This would be a huge maps, so it would be fun with A LOT of players.

MINAS TIRITH ON BOTH SIDES!!!

in the middle is Osgiliath, where everyone comes with warthogs on human sides and covenants with Banshees and Ghosts. at Osgiliath are Tanks on both sides for a 'trench war'.

I would make it so great that it takes practically many minutes for take over Osgilliath so they march to this Minas Tirith - like city, fully destructible. at the top is the flag! in different modes like capture the ruin or something the ruin is in Osgilliath! eat your heart out!

I hope halo 2 on xbox has a multiplayer creator!

Idea 3: a long N vs. S map (say as wide as blood gulch but as long as an unwound sidewinder) with a 20 story skyscraper on each side, with a flag on the 10th) around the skyscraper is a small town. From one side of to the other (W to E) would be a wall a gate in the center of it and two small watchtowers with turrets. Now here is the perk this map would be covey vs. human. On the south side would be a base with all covey weapons and vehicles, as well as covey turrets. On the north side would be all human weapons and vehicles, as well as human turrets. Now when you are on the south team you are an elite and when on the north team you’re the MC.
