It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

I would make a big building with many floors, and rooms the size of the ones in the Library, with high ceilings. Everything would be highly destructable, including the floors. If someone was closing on you, you could shoot the floor and fall through to escape. There would also be Banshees in the rooms, so you could shoot the floor, shoot the floor below you as you fell, and grab a Banshee to escape through the second hole. It would be a modified CTF, where flags could be destroyed by gunfire or knocked off the building, and you would have to get all the remaining flags to win. All the flags would be placed by open windows, and would take a few seconds to pick up, so you could sneak up and knock people out the windows before they could get the flags. There would be Banshees hovering outside that people hit this way could jump into to break their falls. Also, since the flags could be destroyed, you could get one flag and blow up all the other flags you saw to win. And everything would be destructable, so eventually so many floors would be gone that you could fly a Banshee through the entire structure, and would have to get to the floors with the remaining flags.

one problem. If the ceilings were as high as they are in the library you wouldn't have a chance shooting through the floor to escape. You would die on impact then you hit the floor

First of all there should be more vehicle levels. anyway There should be a beach level that enables vehicles. there are numerous bunkers scatterd across the level. With huge jumps for the warthog and tank ;). Like blood gulch there should be two bases and the sand in the middle. That is just some stuff off of the top of my head. Cant wait for halo 2 to come out

As well as saying what my ideal map would be I've also added a little story of the main situation on the map. Read on, its quite cruel!

Imagine a symmetrical map (for CTF matches) where there is 2 bases. The map is quite small, a little smaller than blood gulch (and therefore sniper rifles would usually not be used). Also flying vehicles would not be allowed as it would make the game too easy.

You have the flag! You come out of the enemies base, your team mates have taken most of the enemies out and you all clamber into the warthog (the warthog, ATV and ghost are the only vehicles allowed on the map). You frantically head towards your base, knowing that a single lightbridge is the only way that you and your team mates will make it to your base using the warthog (This lightbridge has switches at each end that turn it off). This is because right in the centre of the map is a shallow chasm full of rocks (therefore vehicles cannot get through). You speed towards the lightbridge and just before you get there you see an enemy heading towards the light bridge. He fires a rocket at you, your driver rightfully swerves to miss the rocket and does so, but because of this swerve your team mate on the gunner of the warthog fires (a rocket!) but misses. You just sprint along the bridge anyway but around halfway (the bridge is about as long as the first one you encounter on Halo, on the level: Halo) you see the bridge begin to dim. The enemy has turned the light bridge off! You and your team mates plunge into the rocks (with no injuries mide you) and clamber out of the warthog, knowing that it has no futher help to offer (when a vehicle is stuck in the rock pit it is resparned at its original base).

Now you have to get to your base on foot! But always knowing that your enemy could be hot on your heels!

Now thats what I call a great teamwork match. I'd love to play a map like that. Would anybody else?

You know at the last place in the maw were your riding in the worthog. Put it on easy and look around in the big areas. A few of these rooms hooked together whould make an awsome MP map.
Don't you think?????

I would make a Large area with many trees and hills. I would also have a large river running down the middle of the area and a base on each side of the area.

It would look like this
G=grass W=water T=trees B=base
GGGGGBGGGGG
TTTTTTTTTTTTTT
BWWWWWWWB
TTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
GGGBgggggggg

I think a good map would be similar to the end of AotCR/begining of 2 betrayals. It would consist of the canyon with two pyramid things instead of one, which would be the bases, including two mini control rooms, where the flag would be and spawn points. It would also have the landbridge in the middle. It would support all vehicles except tanks (there wouldn't be enough room, but it might be interesting to drive one up the base), with shades and the turrets from H2 on the bases. There would also be some sort of cave system around the sides so you wouldn't have to go straight across and climb up to get to the other base. Some good games on it would be CTF, King of the Hill with the hill on the bridge, and assault.

Ok we all know Blood Gulch. Mine would be just like it except completly different. There would be hills and stuff like in Blood Gulch but it would be much bigger. There would also be an upper path. That goes from sides of canyons to the brides like in Assault in the Control Room. It would be the king of CTF. There would be alomost no cover on the bottom except for the hills. It would support all vehicles. Even Halo 2 ones. And it could have up to 32 people on it. Like 16 on the blue team and 16 on the red team. If you had all the vehicles there would be no way your team could lose.

Trench warfare - hurridly dug by marines and deep with suitable firesteps and hardpoints.
Firebase Gloria - Vietnam style with mine fields and concertina wire.
Hedgerowes, treelines and foliage to create camoflauge cover and shadowing.
Foxholes and bunkers
Large water crossings with vehicle obstacles and bottleneck crossings
High elevated forts like the Eagles Nest in Germany and roadways with cutbacks and daring cliff jumps up multiple access routes.
Terrain transitions like valleys, ravines, rivers, canyons, to mountains.

mine would be like a vango painting were the stairs are upside down and stuff. so you can basically run up walls, on ceilings, under platforms and you could never fall, it would make it really hard and confusing to kill some one

I think it would be interesting if theres was only one flag to capture in the middle of the level and also that you have more than two teams trying to get it. I would like to try this on a level similar to blood gulch but that has battle scars and more of a human influence.

Another idea would to have either a pretty much blank surface maybe a desert like u said before with dunes n stuff to hide in with snipers on top, and the flag too, but have loads of tunnels underneath to get the flag and get it back to ur base. Also maybe occasionally having unpredictible weak spots in the sand so you fall through to the tunnels.

Or i was thinking the exact opposite of this, having a pretty dense forest with two bases quite far apart that are like docking areas for banshees and with towers n stuff all around the level equiped with snipers, rocket launchers and plasma grenades. It would be CTF, the flag being in a small exposed area in the middle of the forest and there would be one banshee randomly placed in the forest area that isn't at full power. It would still be possible to take the flag on foot but it would be risky since there would be random teleporters from the bases to the forest plus it would take much longer on foot and the flag may be exposed slightly above the trees You would firstly have to find the banshee by exploring the forest and hopefully not running into an enemy then once you have it fly to the flag knowing u have a plasma cannon take out any enemies on the floor but bear in mind there are towers with snipers rockets and plasma grenades which would be quite high so possible to take out a weak banshee, perhaps even an assault rifle! When u get the flag in the banshee u will have to fly it into the dock and exit the banshee to score. If u go on foot there will be two stairs to the main part of the dock. Oh yeah when u score with the banshee it wont disapear it wil just be disabled in the dock so u cannot use it again and another random one will appear in the forest, this would be cool coz if anyone gets in ur base u cud try blowing it up next to them or vice verse, hehehe.

Hang 'em high with rockets and oddball rock(s)(ed)!
something similar but bigger and a larger network of bridges and good spots from above to shoot someone in the head.

My map would consist of a Covenant ship and a UNSC ship that had crashed at either end of a large valley on Earth. The length of the map would be a little longer than Blood Gulch and equally wide. The land in between the ships would be mostly tall tress interpersed with some meadows. A series of small streams would run perpendicular to the bases, and this would allow for a sniping zones. Each of the crashed ships would have defensive turrets that still functioned. Like in the Zanzibar map, each ship would have hangar bay doors that could be opened from a control panel inside each ship. On the Covenant ship, Banshees would be available on a higher deck, and the ground vehicles appropriate to each race would spawn on the first floor hangar of each. There would also be sinper nests and pathways up on the sides of the valley. This map would be perfect for regular CTF ofr the new Assault bomb-planting mode.

The map's shape would be a "S". On the ends of the S would be the bases. The middle of the S would be slightly lower than the rest of the map as well as a little wider. In the middle of the middle there would be some sort of structure(possible similar to the beam towers in halo). There would be tunnels that filled the cliff face of the map and one tunnel would lead to a bridge on which a plasma sword would be. The terran would be rolling hills, mostly grass with the occasionaly shrub or tree. The bases would be built in to the cilff wall. The main entrence would be on a slightly raised platform. Two turrets staioned forward on either side of the enterence look over a field of dragon's teeth(the piller things in hang them high). there would be ramps that led up to the platform on either side, as well as enternces to the caves/tunnels in the dragon's teeth. Two openins half way up the cliff face would allow snipers to view the approach to the base. A hill, housing a grage only rachable through a one way teleport, would be right after the dragon's teeth end. Above the hill would be a bridge connecting the two sets of tunnels. The other base would be similar with slighty changes in apperance. All vecicals would be aviale, but the dragon's teeth would stop them near the bases.

My dream multiplayer map is a full urban map, somewhat simular to Full Spectrum Warrior maps. There would be cars that are distructable, garbage cans, dumpsters, and even the occasional civilian running for cover. It would be the futuristic Baghdad.. *tear* i can already see it..

My other great idea is a map that is in the middle of a parking lot. A giant parking lot. On one end of the map is a giant warehouse store like Wal-Mart and on the other side, Home Depot. But ofcoarse we cant use the names because of copy-write reasons. In the middle would be cars, shoping carts, lightpoles, dumpsters, and even hedges. The objective would be CTF, with one flag in each store. I dont know if i sound stupid, but it would be awesome.

I really do home that in Halo 2 there is gonna be more urban combat missions considering that we are on earth. DUH!.. I was reading some other ideas for multiplayer maps, and i liked one of them that said something about a jungle with tree houses on top, that would be sweet. But will there be rope swings ???

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

This was a rather ambitious bump...

My maps are located towards the beginning of the thread... There's about 5 of them, alltogether.

My idea for a perfact assult bomb-planting map is two covenant ships, each with a gravity lift that can only be swiched on and off from the control room of that ship. The gravity lifts come out in a "I" shaped steep rockey valley. In the hanger each ship there are two Banshees (or other Halo 2 flying virchle, prefably one that can carry two people) and the only way to swich on the lift is to fly into the other hanger (lots of stationary guns that can be manned by the other team), fight your way to the control room (its close to the hanger so as to make it not to diffuclt, but you can't fly all the way as the passage is too narrow) and swich on the lift. Once on it will stay on for two minutes, giving the rest of your team time to board the ship and make their way to an engine room (heavly guarded) and plant the bomb. After that you can make a quick escape thriugh the hanger or grav-lift. And did I mention that the two ships face each-other and on the top level is a sniping spot where you can pick off people manning the guns on the other ships.
